HBO's Foundation
Having watched incredibly HBO shows like The Wire, Six Feet Under, and The Sopranos, I watched Oz out of curiosity for what made HBO...HBO. Indeed, Oz is a gritty, realistic depiction of prison life, and it has some very compelling characters and plot points. The first season is nothing short of incredible, and the following seasons are almost as good. But then I watched season six. Right off the bat, the series seemed to get silly and desperate to kill off characters that had otherwise no resolute way of dying. It's like the writers just got tired of caring. The series finale was one of the most disappointing series finale i've seen in a long time, and it just left me wondering what happened to such a great show. So yeah, I recommend this show, but only for the first 5 seasons. In my mind, Oz ended at that point.
