Great history I never learned in school.

This book is great. It should be mandatory reading in US schools. I hated history in school, but now as a senior citizen I'm more interested, and especially now that our govt seems unable to tell us the truth about their machinations toward war.
Surprise: our govt has always lied to us to inspire our patriotism for wars we needn't have fought.
We are not the good guys of our propaganda. This book really does explain why we're hated in so many places in the world.
Everybody should read as a refresher course the sections about our previous screw-ups with Iran from the 1950's. We just couldn't have done ourselves more harm, and it's haunting us now.
I also learned that GW Bush was not our first stupid president.
Also very interesting was the stuff on John Foster Dulles. The name was familiar, but this book gives the start of a great biography of this hard case monster. Thank God he didn't live any longer than he did, with all the damage he did to the country.
This is a great read. You may need to take it in sections because there is so much info, but it almost reads like a novel.
