Description
Taking control of a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the long-dead evil Overlord, the player emerges near death from the ruins of the old Overlord's Dark Tower. Only the player's actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it's all up to how bad they want to be in order to succeed ... evil or really evil! With a dark sense of humor, the game immerses players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy stories and characters. In a unique twist, players will have control over an army of an army of Minions that will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for their new Overlord. Throughout the game players will actively control a horde of these gremlin-like creatures that will follow every bidding no matter how whimsical or life threatening it may be.

Special Features
  • As the Overlord, players can amass an army of up to 50 minions (with hundreds more in reserve) made up of four different breeds: Brown Minions (The Fighters), Red Minions (The Fire Throwers), Green Minions (The Assassins) and Blue Minions (The Healers)
  • As the Overlord grows more and more powerful and evil, the minions will grow as well, getting a bit more powerful and evil at the same time.
  • The minions can be controlled generally in two different ways: either by moving the horde as a group, or by independently firing them off like some destruction-crazed, reusable missiles.
  • Players will be able to send individual minions to take on smaller jobs, or they can select a posse from their horde to take on bigger tasks.
  • Further to collecting weapons and armor for themselves, the minions will return to the Overlord with gold and other goodies. Unfortunately, minions have their weaknesses too though: the beautiful (yet fatal) succubus can lure them to their deaths, and they’re easily distracted from their missions by music and alcohol (which makes them increasingly more violent and out of control than normal)

        Great Game Despite Flaws

When I first ought this game I was nervous because I thought it might be too short after spending $30 on Stubbs the Zombie for only a few hours of fun. Two hors into overlord and I knew this was the case. The only part of this game that makes it take so long is that there is no map and you always are lost. When you aren't lost though this game rocks. The unique blend of RTS style of commanding your minions mixed with an RPG story line and questing is great. When I first played this game it seemed like a mix between Pikmin, Lord of The Rings(the overlord/Sauron), and Conker (the humor.) The game takes between 15-20 Hours for the average gamer to beat the campaign but unlike most RPG's this game has online play which actually is surprisingly quite good. I have read about several glitches that make you have to restart the game but I haven't encountered any yet so I wont use those against its score the way they have over at IGN. Overall this is a GREAT game and is definitly worth buying if you don't want to spend your money on "The Darkness."
