Overlord (Xbox 360, 2007)

Ok first let me say, THIS GAME ROCKS. It is summer time, we all know that gaming enters a drought in the summer. Overlord gives you something to do while waiting for those holiday blockbusters!

Not only is the game long, (about 20 hrs of gameplay) it has multiplayer to keep you entertained. The comedy is pretty funny, the characters are funny, and the graphics rock!

Sending all your little minions out to kill, plunder, and pillage is addicting. They come back with gold, weapons, armor, its great! And you can customize your tower of evvvvvil...muahaha.

It also has moral choices..to be the good moral Overlord, or the Evil kill all loot all Overlord! If you like RPG's and you think you would like leading a small army of weeee goblins, get this game.

This game is much better than you have heard.
I am not quite sure why there are so many bland reviews about it floating around on the internet, but they are really quite unjustified given the quality of some the games that get "rave" reviews.

In this game you play as an evil overlord, who commands a group of gremlin-like minions to do his bidding. there is a lot of looting, pillaging, some wench abducting, and various other evil overlord activities to be had.
the game isn't terribly difficult or punishing so pretty much any gamer could pick this one up and enjoy it.
on the whole the "evil" in the game is rather toned down from what i would consider truly nefarious, and is really more heroic than some of the stuff you would see various anti-heroes in other games doing.
the controls in the multi player aspect of the game do seem a tidbit sluggish compared to the single player, but after you get over the initial shock from the difference it is quite fun.
really great game; I would recommend to pretty much anyone who doesn't faint when the word evil is thrown around.

My son loves this game as a break from Gears of War, Halo 3, and Call of Duty 4. It reminds us a bit of Munch's Odyssey. Basically you're this evil Overlord running around destroying everything and everyone, controlling your minions to do so. It's quite comical at times. As you complete different missions, more spells and minions become available to you.

Pros: a fun departure from the staple of shooters that the 360 is known for, comic relief

Cons: camera angle issues, repetitive at times, some parents aren't cool with the name and whole "evil overlord" thing

I recommend this title.

2/224/08: The "raising hell" add-on, and other map add-ons are well worth it for this game. They add maps, multiplayer playing options, new survival modes, and many achievements.

This game is a great ray of light for the 360. I'm enjoying every minute of it! It's challenging, entertaining, and funny. The things the minions say crack me up (my favorite is the review title). So far it's a pretty long game. People are saying it's a 20 hour game but I'm sure I've eclipsed that mark. There's a lot to do and see. Build a minion army, upgrade your weapons and armor, find new magic spells, explore new areas, complete quests, fight in dungeon challenges, customize your tower, etc. Overlord has a Fable feel to it, but not quite as involved. Buy it.

Good game, lots of fun, easy to play, includes online play, charicters are really funny, good replay value as you try to get differnt achievments, all in all highly recomended.

This is a great game and is just like pikman for the Game Cube. This story is fun, engaging, and it is a lot of fun to play. This game is a great buy and would be enjoyed by most ages. Controlling a horde of Minons that love to kill sheep, get drunk, and do my bidding...Hell yes.

Pros - Game is easy to pick up and play; great art direction and sense of humor (minions are cute, charming, and hilarious at times, as are NPCs); difficulty level not punishing; lampoons Lord of the Rings and other fantasy elements brilliantly.

Cons - Charm and humor begin to wear off after several hours of play time; camera feels as though it is working against you at times; feels quite a bit like Pikmin for Gamecube/Wii in its puzzle-solving elements (maybe that's a good thing?); minions begin to become difficult to control once you have more than 20; upgrades for main character's equipment and his dark tower make little difference in the gameplay.


Overall, this is an enjoyable title. You'll laugh out loud at some of the situations and characters, especially if you are a fantasy fan. However, the game can be a bit repetitive, and using your minions to do virtually everything (which you must do) is a mechanic that has lots of initial appeal but eventually can be slightly cumbersome. It's definitely worth a play-through, but purchasing it at full retail price probably isn't the best use of your funds.

Great game that isnt just a easy,typical, breeze through game. Has alot of features and makes you use your head with a world enviornment that takes the reigns off of "straight forward" action adventure. Hours of enjoyment with a very very reasonable price tag.

I honstly don't what is god or bad about this game. I have never played it. I bought this game for my fiance and he loves it, so i'm assuming that it is a great game!

I really got into the game because it takes you through the controls and give you a chance to begin while learning. I also enjoy being able to build your forces. I think that it is more challenging when more forces are involved.

Packaging was amazing, didn't take long to ship it here, the game works, my little brother enjoys it very much.

Although the game is about being as bad and destructive as you can be, its sort of cute in a fun twisted way. The game has PG-13 type limits of how bad you can be so it's relatively benign. Its relatively easy to figure out if you're anything of a gamer. Tired of first person shooters? Try this one for the heck of it.

I really liked this game, it was cheap as well. the best part were the minions, red, green, brown, and blue. Each having their own ability to help along in the game. Having the option to have zero corruption or be totally corrupt plays a part in how your Overlord will look in the end. Would give a higher score but the controls were frustrating at times.

This game had a really fun premise. I liked FABLE so I liked the idea of minions, evil bidding, and anti-hero game play. This game was really fun overall. It became frustrating with the awkward control of the minions (the best part of the game).

Buy it used. You have fun. For a little while at least.

Easy to learn, short tutorial, but they will also explain things throughout the game as new stuff become available.

Having minions is a cool feature, adds strategy to fighting style.

Graphics excellent. Have it on xbox360 and in PC. The PC type is more clear
in desing, color & details. Naturally it depend on the PC you have.

I've played Overlord for XBox 360 before and it is one of my absolute favorite games. The levels are extensive, the computer AI is not repeative, and the gameplay is just mind blowing. If I was to reccomend a "First Game" for 360, I would say Overlord would be first in my mind.
