Here's one that deserves a lot more buzz!

Konigsburg is a master of the English language, and I'm so grateful that she's chosen to share her gift with adolescents over the years. Outcasts is a wonderful read reminiscent of the movie "Secondhand Lions".
When a girl visits her two eccentric uncles, she anticipates their usual antics and doting nature. However, things aren't as great as they've been. Yuppies have moved to Schuyler Place, and they don't like the giant sculpture the uncles have constructed in the backyard. A debate ensues over the piece...is it art or is it a public eyesore? The family's fight to save the aging sculpture soon becomes the focus of the book.
Konigsburg unique style makes this a great read, and the relationships she builds with words are unparalleled. She paints a picture, and says a lot with a few well chosen words here and there. A remarkable story that deserves A LOT of praise. It's a good book for the middle grades, and my students have loved reading it.
