Does Sex Appeal Equal Film Appeal? See These & Wonder

A career criminal, Jack Foley (George Clooney), escapes from prison & takes a federal agent, Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez), hostage. Foley releases Sisco & goes on the lam. Sisco's determined to catch up with Foley. But, once she does, she's not sure whose side she's on any longer, having become attracted to Foley. It's pretty similar to this second film in quite a few ways. However, there's one main difference: this one has a build up of tension that the next film lacks.
During "Intolerable Cruelty, Catherine Zeta-Jones portrays her arrogating character much like the poodle she rents--with teeth: an attractive younger woman, who's a gold-digger pursuing rich husbands with one leg in the grave; manipulating men for their assets; boundary-crossing flirtatious; lazy; job & homeless; boring & beautiful; & surrounded by "Fabio, gardeners." Clooney's character is a shyster divorce lawyer who exploits his clients & is stereotyped as a sexist. Perhaps the big name stars will attract you.
I found both films to be for the undereducated who pay money to cooperate with gender stereotypes. Maybe by putting the attractive actors together producers now presume they'll be big money block busters. That's how films are rated today: according to how much money they make on the 1st day at the box office. This is a false rating of the quality & appeal of a film~
