Album Notes Drum 'n' bass right in yer face. Laswell, journeyman musician, man of many talents, had trained his eye on jungle via the Equations of Eternity projects, but OSCILLATIONS is his first full-blown foray into the neural passages of explosive newbeat. This is jacked-up jungle, done with rhythmic frenzy and compositional tenacity, the sounds crackling out of the speakers in furious abandon. It's no secret that he's a master manipulator of both the studio and studio electronics, and the scythe-like swatches of data he whips across the mixing board suggest both erudition and emasculation. "Digitaria" alone shows that there's more to Laswell than just gargantuan basslines. The angular nature of "Dislocation" tears at the very fabric of the noisome, noxious electronix. It's visceral stuff for the world-weary, by electronica's most eclectic world-tracker.
