Orlimar is one of the best fairway woods of all time

This club is just simply breathtaking. You can hit this off a dead flat tight lie and pull off a brilliant shot. I have quite a few of these clubs lying around, and they are my favourite fairway woods of all time. I dare you to try this club, with the equivalent loft in a Titanium Brand name club. The face on the Orlimar TriMetal will usually hit further than the Titanium most times, because the sweet spot is basically the whole head, and the trimetal has a much more higher COR (coefficient of restitution) than Titanium.

Taylor made came out with the Rescue fairway models and the r7 and r5 fairways, cleveland with the launchers etc, but these Orlimar clubs can smack the ball so far down the fairway on a pure shot its just so good to watch. They have a small head, and with that, it places emphasis on the player having to connect well, and lets you get a clean shot on real tight lies, thrusting the ball further if its on hard tight lie.

The accuracy they give was so good that it made these clubs world famous. Unfortunately the promotions campaign behind Orlimar wasn't as good as the large names out there today, and thus these clubs are kind of left behind, but if you get the chance, try to hit one of these models. In particular, the Orlimar TriMetal is the best ever. Its like hitting the ball with an illegal club, but its simply because of the way the head is cast, with a slightly closed head, and a very low profile, that it allows a huge swing to come off with very little error.

They produce very long and stopping shots, which (when hit fairly straight) will stop within 2 - 5 yards of landing on the green from 200 yards out. I would definately recommend this club to people that slice the ball, or have a fade, as it should do wonders in correcting the problem. The reason I say this, is that the larger and more forgiving fairwar models are very hard to see what is happening once they have been swung, but with this smaller low profile head, you can tell and feel straight away what you are doing wrong.

The greatest thing about these models are that they are a little old now, and can be picked up for an absolute steal now, and in my opinion they hit further than most new models, that you are paying for the brand name anyway.

The lofts came in many models, but to be honest, I wouldn't recommend the driver too much, but definately try the 13 degrees, 16 degrees or the 19/21/23 depending on what you're after. The driver with its very low profile however, CAN BE USED OFF THE DECK if you are a very good player, and you will be rewarded with a very low flying strong fairway shot. But its not a common shot, and best to avoid unless you have high soft grass with a need for pure distance, and only for social golf if you're just showing off to your mates, because its a rather difficult shot to pull off and definately not worth your percentages when an easy lofted club is recommended.

All in all, because of the low profile, and the three types of metals in the face which actually hits further than titanium, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS.

I hope this review helps.
