Origin: Spirits of the Past (DVD, 2006)

This Japanese animé is beautifully illustrated and boasts excellent visuals, but unfortunately, that's the only thing laudable about it. The story will appeal to younger viewers, but is too convoluted and probably won't hold interest with adults fans of the genre. If you're out to find a good family animé that the kids can enjoy (without gore and violence), Origin fits the bill and makes for good eye-candy.. but don't expect the plot to make much sense or give a fulfilling storyline.

This movie is beautiful. If rated solely on visual effects, it would be a 5+ star. (I also watched this in blu-ray, making it even more gorgeous).

However, the storyline is only average. The nature-fights-back story has become commonplace in many tales of late and Origin does not successfully provide a new twist. Instead, it feels like we've heard this story before.

Regardless of whether we've heard this story before, we've never seen it as beautifully presented as it is here. Buy/rent this for the visuals and keep in mind that the story is tried-and-true.

CD was in perfect condition upon arrival and ran very well in DVD player. I was forced to wait a few days before viewing it but was glad when I finally saw it.

Very interesting plot...original...bought on a whim and couldn't be happier with my purchase...the animation is also spot on...very enjoyable...

If you are interested with titles like Princess Mononoke, or are interested with nature vs. technology/humanity this is a great title for you! :)

If this movie had been a series and more time could have been spent developing plot and characters it would have been more enjoyable. A decent anime and worth watching at least once.

This movie isn't ground breaking animation. It is one of my favorites though because of the scoring. Kokia does an amazing job of making what would be a rather straight fowards movie into an epic.

I saw a previw of this movie on Dragon Ball Z season 1 and decided to get it ive never seen it until now it was a decent movie nothing fantastic the story was average the art work was average but if you havent seen it and can get it for a decent price i would suggest adding it to your anime collection
