Organic Chemistry by Francis A. Carey (2005, Hardcover)

This is the book NC State University has adopted for its Organic Chemistry I and II courses. Being a pre-medical student I am taking the class very seriously, and this is a serious book!!

Once you can get over its sheer size and weight you will find it to be an incredible reference. Using the "functional group" approach, it divides its chapters among various classes of carbon-based molecules and addresses their characteristics, properties, nomenclature, and reaction mechanisms separately.

To some, this approach can be daunting one indeed. This approach seems most familiar to American learners-- but overall this book serves it's purpose well.

It's retail version comes with a CD-ROM molecular modeling program which has corresponding practice problems based in the book. The solutions manual, although expensive, will most likely be a necessary purchase to take full advantage of the practice materials in this text.

I have read both the international edition as well as the hardcover American edition and can officially state: "THEY ARE THE SAME BOOK" -- beyond the cover every page is identical to the American hardcover version, so if the opportunity exists to save money buying a softcover international-- go for it!

This book was great - so much cheaper than from the actual college bookstore and yet high quality as well. All of the figures are in color and identical to the american version. Definitely a good choice to save the extra cash.

The book was in brand new condition just like it was promised when i purchased it. It was even wrapped as though i had just bought it from the store.

The text book is in decent condition. It had a little water damage on the top of a few chapters that I don't believe was mentioned in the description, but other than that I was happy with the purchase.

This book is a huge help in the studying of organic chemistry. It is written in a way that the student can understand and provides many examples to help in that understanding.

I am taking Organic Chemistry as a summer course and this book has helped me with a great deal of it. Since the class is set at a fast pace, this book makes it easier to remain at the same level as the professor.

The chapters are a bit lengthy and are certainly not a read-a-chapter-a-night. There are, however, very useful summaries at the end of each chapter to recap what you read.

This is a great book, it explains material better than my professor(at NCSU). I'm considering not going to class anymore and just reading the book...

I decided to but the book because I needed it a class.
But the seller never shipped the book. I emailed the seller at two different times but no response. How could ebay let someone get away with this?
I filled claim with eBay a while ago, but no response in return; eBay came out to be no better than the seller. What happend to the claim of "Satisfaction Garunteed". I am not going to buy anything over the eBay again. Amazon is bettter. I am going to buy all of my books from Amazon; they care about their coustomer unlike ebay.

very horrible... the book was very destroyed and yet said good condition and the front cover is missing.

i needed this book right away and the seller contacted me and said it was on backorder and wouldnt get in for 6 weeks or so i immediately asked for a refund.

I never received the product that I purchased. I contacted the seller numerous times and they never responded. Horrible transaction. I got refunded after I filed a claim. Do not do business with them!

I never received the purchase and never heard anything about why i had not received it. Must of been a scam

The jacibooks never sent my o. chem. text to me. my second try thru opoebooks came quickly with everything it said it would deliver. I can only trust Barnes & Noble used text site now. Text was in very good condition.

The books were in good shape. However the service was not so desireable. I actually paid to have the products sent to my daugther at college via priority mail. They were sent to my personal office regular mail. Then I had to pay an additional 30 dollars or so to have them sent to my daughter at college before the class deadline. I ask the seller if he would at least split the cost of shipping. As I expected there was no response. Buyers beware of the service!

I knew that I would be taking organic chemistry, and since I knew that media mail generally takes a week or so to deliver, so I ordered the book sent to my address at school, which is across the country from my home, and it got there before I did!

Of course, you can't beat the value of buying an international edition, and I'm satisfied with the condition the book was in when I got it. Thanks for selling.
