Truly a multi-media Queen, Latifah returns to the throne with ORDER IN THE COURT. Though the multi-talented Latifah spends a lot of time acting, she hasn't forgot how to rock the mic. "Brownsville" is a hardcore hip-hop fest with additional vocals from Nikki D, Le Fem Markita and Scarlet. Sex in the '90s is a topic of discussion on "No/Yes," produced by DJ Clark Kent. "Black on Black Love" is a call for interracial harmony that features Next and Antonique Smith. It cleverly uses a sample from "Make Me Say It Again Girl" as recorded by The Isley Brothers. "Bananas" is a radio burner that features an appearance from Apache. The Queen has diverged from her traditional rap roots, and ORDER IN THE COURT has everything from R&B-jeep funk to hardcore hip-hop. In the constantly changing world of rap, Latifah manages to hold the court and play another round.

Editorial Reviews
3.5 Mics (out of 5) - ...With the wrath of her musical madness, this fiery lady was determined to uplift the state of female rappers still stranded in the aural wasteland of the post-Roxanne era...
The Source (07/01/1998)

3 Stars (out of 5) - ...she steps back from the blend of croon and rap she has helped pioneer on recent records and returns to the tough proclamations of yore....Latifah sounds like she means it.
Rolling Stone (08/06/1998)

...On her latest album, the multimedia maven splits the difference between thumping hip-hop and suave lover-girl R&B jams, all the while reminding her royal subjects exactly who reigns supreme. With an album this fun and funky, it's hard to argue with her. - Rating: A-
