Very Interesting Take on An Oracle Deck

These cards were gifted to me. The night I got them a group of us drew from the deck and passed the book around to read the meanings of the cards we had drawn. They are not like some oracular devices where nearly anything you read can be applied to you. These really struck at the heart of each and every person there.
I put them away after that and really didn't use them much until last night. That is what prompted me to come here to write a review. I have read Tarot since 1988 (professionally since 1993). These are not Tarot, but if you are familiar with Tarot, then you will see the similarities.

One of the major challenges of this (and any round deck) is the tilt aspect. Up or down is simple. But when the card has the image flying to your right or left, then you have to stop and really apply yourself to the reading at hand.

I don't know that I would use this deck to do readings for others (I still read professionally), but as a meditation tool for myself, I find it very useful.

If you are looking for something a bit different to give that Tarot addict you know, do consider this deck.

Yes, I wrote the text to this book, and designed the base for the cards, so I didn't need to buy it... tho I still do if I find it at a great price on Ebay! :)

One of the things I love the most about these cards, which the previous reviewer brought up, is the round aspect. I liken it to going to a party - who is looking at who? Or turning their back to another card? Is anyone running away, or facing to the right (thinking in the future) or the left (dwelling in the past?) Are natual enemies together, such as dingo and brush turkey... or is it mostly birds there, or water creatures? The round aspect allows the intuitive side to emerge, in following what you know (or think you know!) about each creature.

It does help, now and then and should the cards get really jumbled, to go thru and righten each one (say G"DAY to it too!)... then shuffle.

The cards were illustrated by Aboriginal artists and all the Dreamings as retold by Francis Firebrace. You don't need to read the book, just looking at the images offers clues for your own interpretations... but the book is useful backup. :)

If anyone has any questions, I always do my best to help. :)

I would like to, probably out of context but I follow my heart, send rememberance to the late Pauline McLeod who wrote the forward and whom I loved as a sister; and to the late elder Burnum Burnum (who wrote the original forward that went missing after his demise, and whom the book is dedicated.) And I must mention Neville Bonner, who read the book as the last thing before he passed on, (thanks to another dear late person Kirsten), who believed it was Good and gave me that moral support of following my dream. All were great people and are even greater spirits, sadly missed. There seems to be a lot of dead people around this book, but they bring it into their world too.... another layer of the Dreamtime. Blessed be!

I bought this because I was gifted a copy of it and one of my friends wanted to have the same item for doing some work with it. It is very much a nice deck that can be used in many forms. I would suggest this to others who work with tools of this nature.

Fabulous deck. Wonderful to work with. Better used with some background knowledge of Aboriginal dreams, but works fine w/o too.
