One of the best military sims ever
OFP is a classic that hasn't been bested yet, even 6 years after its release. Even its successor, Armed Assault, falls short in several areas, although it does have OFP beat in graphics. If you have an interest in realistic, first person shooter military simulations, you MUST own this title. It will be the standards others are compared to for years to come.

Worth the outdated graphicsSure, this game doesn't have the realism that most games released today do, but it by far makes up for it in the amount of freedom you have in the game. Most combat games ultimately give you one path to follow through your entire game, however I can create my own scenario on one of the custom maps and get behind the wheel of jeeps, humvees, tanks, cars, or fly apaches, chinooks, blakhawks, even pilot an A-10. And with the add-on's I can ride a motorcycle around, or fly an F-16, or C-130 or even call in a Coast Guard helicopter to come pick me up. All of this on one island, in one game. Awesome game, one of my all time favorites.

This game is very misleading.It is about one step up from pong.Very outdated.Wonder what year it was game of the year(1970)

I decided to buy it for the realism and the freedom you have to any weapon or drive any vehicle you want to drive (especially, helicopters).
I love blowing up things. It has an incredible replay value; especially, the hundreds of mods and add-ons you can download to enhance gaming. The only gripe I have is that the resistance campaign is incredibly difficult to complete. In fact, I have yet to finish it. Also, the graphics are a little outdated (visual enhancing is downloadable).
I would highly recommend it to gamers that like guns and blowing up things as well as hard-core tactical shooter fans. Also, if you have a pc that can run amazing graphics and huge environments, I would recommend Operation Flashpoint's, next in the series, Armed Assault.

I have playing Operation Flashpoint Goty since 2001,its the only game that you put great addons and modds from other countries. The addon and mod makers are doing agreat job designing newer detail equipment and weapons for this game and different type of missions. FFlur 2006 is a great mod and y2k3 mod
CBT and RHS and (the chain of command .com) are great addons and mod makers.
Edit your mission and play against your friends Lan party are fun too.
Graphics are great too mods improve performance

ive had this game sence 2004 and im still having fun with this game. I would give this game and the series a 5 star its one of the best :)

This is a good title and will provide several hours of entertainment.
Had to install an automatic update to allow the game to resume from pause mode after a saved game load.
Please note: this title was reviewed using a Dell XPS Gen 4, P4 HT @ 3.20 GHz, 4 Gig RAM, Dual 160 SATA RAID(0) hard drives and a nVidia GeForce 6800 256mb PCIe video adapter. It is important to read and understand the minimum and recommended system requirements for any PC video game. Systems that are faster than the minimum may provide significantly better performance and improve your gaming experience. Some PC video games list specific video card requirements and will not function without.
