Slow Movie but a good story

Minor league baseball player Carlton Garret (Justin Timberlake) is asked by his mother (Mary Steenburgen) who is in the hospital awaiting a heart operation to go find his famous baseball playing father (Jeff Bridges) and bring him to the hospital so she can see him before her operation. Carlton travels to Ohio and talks his dad into traveling back to Texas. They spend an eye opening time on the 'Open Road' as they drive to Ohio to Texas with Carlton's girlfriend (Kate Mara)
The movie is a bit slow and the plot is very predictable, but overall it has some very good points and a heartwarming ending.
It is a good movie and I purchased the DVD but perhaps I should have rented it and saved myself some money.
