Only the Strong (DVD, 2003)

First off, don't expect this film to be more than it looks like it is. If you do, you may be dissappointed. It basically follows the story of a man (Marc Decascos) who teaches a group of wayward youths a karate style that involves dance and music. Therefore, teaching them wisdom to use in their lives as well. The acting is sub-par, but the unique fighting makes for the average rating that I gave this film. I am a huge fan of martial arts films and someone who is not will probably not like the film even as much as I did.

Since my first encounter with Martial Arts over 35 years ago, I've held an interest in all styles. I certainly enjoy watching a good flick every now and then as well. I came across "Only the Strong" while searching for something on the art called "Capoeira". There were many choices, but I simply chose this one because I liked the reviews (elsewhere). I wasn't disappointed. The action is realistic enough to satisfy most of us and the storyline is ok as well. I won't give away the plot, but it follows the usual path....tough, uncontrollable teens looking for action, good guy comes along and teaches them life's skills and a way to vent their "anger" through Capoeira - a great Martial Art composed of a mixture of dance and aerial kicks and spins. Buy it!!

This Movie is great, in that it has everything in it as far as a story line, action, fighting, bombs and yes evan a love story. Good overcoming the bad. I bought this movie b/c I loved it when it first came out and I havent seen it for awhile and the wait has been long enough. Its a must see if you're into action movies!

This movie was a major introduction of capoeira tothe general populace of N. America. The film was excellent and is very dated to the era in which it was filmed. The film is thoroughly enjoyable and I would recommend to all people.

The movie was exactly what I wanted. The movie was brand new, and in perfect condition. It was good quality as well.

I saw this movie when I was very young and it dosen't fail to inspire me. I have always liked the fact that some of the teachers never gave up on the students which I can relate to and also the message that any type of martial arts does not always encourage violence.

You have seen this movie before, trust me on that.
It might have been called something else but the plot is the same.
Guy comes back to old high school, which by the way still have the same teachers working there, and finds it over run by drug dealers.
Hero teaches "Capoeira" to kids so they can defend themselves, drug dealer chief (Who just so happens is a Capoeira Master too) comes to challenge the hero.
Good action, decent acting (Except for the Bad guy who supposedly grew up in the worst neighborhood of RIO and yet cannot speak the Native Portuguese but instead uses something that sounds like Spanish)
Good entertainment for a rainy Saturday Night .

the plot was awsome the fight scenes i loved them and the way the fights were corea graphed was just awsome

Great Condition, still in package. I bought the video because I haven't seen it since I was a child and no one sells it. So I went to ebay and found this person had it and ordered it immediately. The video was sold for a good and fair price. I was happy to get it.

I am glad I found this movie and I was curious about when was it put in the mail. if you could just send me and email and tell me when the item was sent. It is a Birthday present for my wife and she will freak and be so happy that it came in

With the fight-sequence choreographic assistance of Frank Dux of BloodSport fame, this movie is high in intensity. It is the only movie I've seen that emphasizes caporia...a beautiful Brazilian martial art. The acting is a bit "B-movie," but it's not a movie to watch for great acting. The story is naive but powerful, great for those, like me, who like it when good triumphs over evil and when a teacher is able to connect to a student in order to make a positive difference.

THIS IS A MOVIE ABOUT A SOLDIER WHO RETURN HOME FRON BRAZIL WERE HE LEARNED A DIFFERENT FORM OF MARTIAL ART AND TAUGHT IT TO A GROUP OF BOYS THAT THE SCHOOL BELEIVE HAVE CHANCE TO GRADUATE MUST LESS SURVIVE.

This is a great action movie. Enough action for the men and enough of a love story for the women.
It was great the firdt time we watched it and still great after a few dozen views!

I came to ebay looking for this movie b/c I have loved it since I was a kid. It has been one of my favorites since I was like 10, and I knew that I had to buy it for my collection.
The movie is great, and the service was super from when I ordered it.

I am a martial artist, I love all martisl arts and if you do too, then you need to own this movie. It shows the fun you can have and also the practical use of self defense. Capoeria is a whole lot of fun to watch and to pratice. That is why I bought the movie.
