Onkyo TX SR304 5.1 channel Receiver

Very easy to use, a lot of channels so you can plug almost anything to it. I have a play station, a dvd player, a television, a turntable, a cd player & if I wanted to I could hook up my computer to the thing. Many audio settings for listening preference & easy to adjust.

Styling is OK but the sound output I'm expecting from an Onkyo was not there. Overall rating for me is good.

I've just bought three (3) of these receivers, one (1) for my video setup and two (2) to replace Onkyo TX-SR303s that after 5 years use developed mechanical and electronic problems respectively. Pros: All Onkyo receivers use High Current design-like Harmon Kardan-which provides superior sound reproduction and volume that outperform other amps/receivers with higher watts in their specifications; NOTE--the other brands most often use a 1K Khz rating to justify their higher watts figures, but Onkyo-again like Harmon Kardan-uses the full 20-20K Khz sound spectrum stating the watts apply to all frequencies. The electronics used are premium grade throughout ensuring excellent sound performance for all types of music and the physical design is professional in the front and rear panel layouts. Don't let what appears to be Low Watts put you off the SR304s as they are first class receivers in all respects. I've been very happy with the 3nn series and it was this reason I choose the 304s. Definitely 5 of 5 Stars, I rate it well above similar price-point competitors. Cons: This is an Entry Level receiver and as such, it uses spring clips for all speaker connectors but for the pre-amp subwoofer-out which is an RCA jack. I strongly recommend using speaker wire plugs/adapters soldered to the wire ends at the rear panel as bare wire or even soldered wires have a tendency to slip out of the spring clips (the holes are small) and-if your entertainment center is like mine-the back of the receiver is hard to get to after setup. All other Onkyo receivers except these use binding posts that accept banana plugs or secure bare wire by screwing the connector tight preventing the wires from slipping out. No phono input on these models, but separate good/better/best phono pre-amps are available from other online vendors, and I use one of these for my LPs.
