This is a wonderful, fun, delightful Disney movie! It has a little bit of everything and wonderful actors. It's a great family film. I highly recommend it. If you love Disney films, you will love this one. Lori

A very good movie that the whole family can watch. Loved the actors, music and storyline. I had been trying to find the movie in different stores and was thrilled to find it on Ebay.

It was a Disney classic that was remembered from years past but we have been unable to find a copy of it anywhere. We have enjoyed the movie yet again and will be able to for years to come.

If you like musicals, humor and a clean show, this one will wow you. That's why I purchased a DVD after it came out years ago on... VHS. It's a funny and feel-good movie for any age. But you do have to like musicals.

I loved watching this movie when I was a kid. When I saw it was on eBay, let alone on a DVD...I had to buy it. When I rec'd it...both my unger kids couldn't keep their eyes off the tv....they fell in love w/ it as well.

This is a cute movie with beautiful period furnishings and clothing. I was expecting it to be completely engaging in the style of Pollyanna or The Sound of Music. I found it so boring at times that I just left and would come back and try again. It is clean and, as I said, colorful to watch but you do not get to know a single person in the family other than maybe the Grandpa - Walter Brennan. They just seem to 'be there' on the screen with no depth whatsoever to engage you and make you wish it would not come to the end. Definitely not a classic but had great potential.
I am usually not hard to please when it comes to a good clean family film.

I remember the songs from this movie and caught myself singing them the other day. So, I looked on line and found it and decided to buy it. My partner didn't watch much television growing up, and his family was very poor so they didn't go to the movies much. I love this old movie with leslie Anne Warren and Walter

We love Disney movies. We never heard of it until it was advertized on a Disney program we were watching. So I decided to see if I could find it, Very pleased!!

I love this movie. It was something I grew up watching. My little cousin watched it and asked to watch it again. She probably doesn't understand the movie but she enjoys the singing and dancing scenes.

I love the DVD case cover showing the whole cast (family) on it, each with their instruments. The color is magnificant in this movie. I love the famous actors and their individual roles making this film a recommendation to anyone I see. I also love the music in this movie. All of them are upbeat and you get them stuck in your head very easily. This movie is highly recommended! I watch it all the time!

I remember this movie from childhood...it was the first time I'd seen a movie about the Black Hills, where I grew up. The songs are catchy and the cast full of recognizable actors. (Buddy Ebsen, Walter Brennan, Leslie Ann Warren and even Kurt Russell with uncredited Goldie Hawn in the dance section). It's a great family musical along the lines of Music Man.

This movie was bought as a gift for my father. The one and only genuine,original family band is one of his all time favorets.And since it's out on DVD I got it for him.The movie is a great family film.A real classic.And they seem to be few and far between.

Fun movie although rather corny at times. It's fun to watch Kurt Russell in one of his earliest roles and also Goldie Hawn as a dancer in one of the big scenes. You can really see the age difference between them! A Disney period piece with Leslie Ann Warren wearing some very pretty clothes! What else can I say, it's not one of Disney's classics!

As a kid (I'm 46) this was the first movie I recall seeing in a theater and loved it! For sentimental reasons, I purchased it.
It's a musical and historical fiction combination. Set during the political era of Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison, families are moving west to the Dakota Territory to homestead. Filled with song and saga, plus a love story, the musical family sticks together through thick and thin...including political rivalry between Republicans and Democrats.
Super "family movie", if you like musicals that are upbeat.

The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band is one of two Walt Disney Musicals that were made starring Lesley Ann Warren and John Davidson. (The other movie is the Happiest Millionaire, which I highly recommend as well!) My grandfather was a movie projectionist when I was a child, and I had been privileged to view these movies at his theatre. I originally bought this movie as a VHS about 7 years ago on Ebay spending $75.00! I guess it was quite a bidding war! Sadly, the VHS broke, so I returned to Ebay to replace it. How wonderful to find a factory sealed DVD at a much more reasonable price! The quality was excellent, but mostly, it took me back to the days of old, sitting in a beautiful downtown Baltimore theatre with my Grandfather at the projector. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves wholesome family entertainment, music, and doesn't mind a bit of a history lesson. The story line revolves around the Dakota territories, and the Cleveland/Harrison Presidential election. Can anyone say "Electoral College?" Thanks to that movie, I understood the events of 2000 a lot better! It made perfect sense! You'll enjoy the lively musical numbers, the sweet love story, the family dynamics and the rowdy political antics of some strong-willed Democrats and firm yet funny Republicans! You'll recognize many members of the cast including a very young Kurt Russel and a dancing Goldie Hawn. This was their first meeting! Buddy Ebsen, and the bald guy from the Dick Van Dyke Show, as well as many others. Look for the movie, win it, open it up, pop some popcorn, turn down the lights, and have a great evening!
