Album Notes All songs originally released in 1969 on LP on Tower Records (5153) except "Don't Need Your Lovin" and "Sitting There Standing", released on the soundtrack to "Riot On Sunset Strip", and "Blues Theme" and "Loose Lips Sync Ship" released as a single by The Hogs. 1969's ONE STEP BEYOND was the third and final album by San Jose's Chocolate Watchband, one of the most venerated of the original garage-punk bands. Few comparable bands of this era ever made it to a second album, let alone a third, but ONE STEP BEYOND more than equals the band's previous efforts. While there's nothing on a par with "Let's Talk About Girls" here, there's plenty of good stuff nonetheless. A chunkier, boogie-ing tone pervades some of the seven lengthy songs, but there are also plenty of good sloppy garage rockers and a few trippy touches. This remastered reissue also includes four bonus tracks, including the band's contribution to the soundtrack of RIOT ON SUNSET STRIP, and two tracks, "Blues Theme" and "Loose Lip Sync Ship," from a single recorded under the name The Hogs, produced by Frank Zappa.
