The One-Room Schoolhouse by Paul Rocheleau (2003, Hardcover)

This is a wonderful book for those with an interest or curiosity about the one-room schoolhouse. The many full color photos are beautiful. The book is a joy to read, very absorbing and delightfully presented. I especially loved the photos of the interiors of various schoolhouses, complete with slates, wooden school desks, school bells, pot-bellied stoves, globes, flags, and more! The variety of schoolhouses shown from the outside is very interesting as well. Some are octagonal in shape, others built of brick or stone, and of course the many photos of wooden-frame schoolhouses all hold your interest throughout the book. A very fine purchase!
