One Missed Call (DVD, 2008)

It's simple don't answer the damn phone..they know what's going to happen yet they still grab that phone and say hello..duh big red truck..this movie was far from scary it was more pathetic then anything..the script was terrible the acting was ok and the so called scares was laughable..total waste of time!!

Should we talk about this again?............This movie was horrible. It's called a horror movie but I was laughing during most of it. The only time I was actually a bit creeped out was when I checked my phone and it said that I have One Missed Call. I love the original. I definitely didn't expect to be any good but once in a while everybody wants to see a movie on a long Saturday afternoon that they don't have to think or talk about ever again. But in the end too many words came out of it. I enjoy good movies but I can also appreciate certain bad movies that are good for passing time but ultimately this offers me one missed call too many.

As you watch this you will notice a mixture of The Ring and Final Destination, both of the above films are clearly better. The central character is Beth (Shannyn Sossamon), a young student who witnesses more than one of her friend's grisly demises and who appears in line to be a victim despite the disbelief of local authorities (represented largely by Margaret Cho, in a non-comic role). She is finally believed by Det. Jack Andrews (Edward Burns), whose sister died a mysterious death and who joins Beth in searching for answers. Sossamon is competent as the bewildered victim, while Burns adds a certain depth to a fairly nondescript role. Supporting plays include Meagan Good (too short of scene), Ray Wise and Azura Skye.

Production design is generally effective; however, the film's score generally is of the garden-variety horror type in which one can easily tell by the music when something bad is going to happen.

I always try to refrain from bashing any movie just because I understand that a lot of effort goes into making even the worst movie. I found myself bored most of the movie and again amused at the "scary" parts because of how weak it is. I can't really say much about the acting except that its sub par, Ed Burns is the only decent actor in the whole movie. "One Missed Call" may very well hold over horror fans desperate for something even remotely near their beloved genre, however, gorehounds and true horror fans are likely to be disappointed. Do yourself a favor watch the Japanese movie "One Missed Call 2003", if you don't like subtitles it is dubbed in English plus it's well worth a watch, as far as this movie goes its one call you won't regret missing.

f you get a call from a friend asking you if you want to go see "One Missed Call," you're probably in the same situation as the people in the movie. The story, based on the Japanese movie "Chakushin Ari," revolves around Beth Raymond (Shannyn Sossamon), a girl whose friends are all being killed off one by one after receiving messages on their cell phones from the moment they die. You can tell just from the premise that it was well worth remaking.

If you've ever seen a J-horror film in your life then you've seen this. It's basically "The Ring" with dumber people and less of a story. There's not one scare that you can look at and not say "they did that in so-and-so." There's not one character you can look at and say "I hope they don't die next." There's not really anything you can look at and say "I am totally watching this again some day."

The only compliment I can give this movie is that it's not the worst ever made. Even though it is ripping other movies off, it's ripping off the good ones, in both context and style. Other than that, I really can't say much for it.

I liked it because it's scary and keeps you in suspence,I was dissapointed with the ending a little I think that should have been better

This movie started how with what seemed to be a good plot. College student is mysteriously killed in her back yard pond. A day later one of her friends gets a strange phone call from the dead student. When she answers it it reads "one missed call" It says that the call is from time in the future. When the student listens to the voice mail they hear their own voice screaming or something like that. Then, at whatever time they recieved that voice mail they die and the screaming message comes true. The chain of voice mails continues for a while. When a student and a detective are working on it they are working fast because the student, beth, just recived an ominous message. I hated this movie and by the end you don't even care if beth dies. It was also confusing and it didn't make sense . Plus a horrible ending.

the movie is good, it's kinda scary...but it's still good to watch...if you like something scary, but won't give u nightmares about it, the One Missed Call is a good movie for you to watch!

One Missed Call is a very good movie. The plot was good, there were twist and turns. The characters were easy to relate to, my only complaint is that it wasn't scary enough for a horror movie. So this movie might be good for beginners, but not hard core horror fans.

FOR EVERYBODY THAT DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE, PICK IT UP AT YOUR LOCAL VIDEO STORE OR BUY IT AT BEST BUY OR EBAY. I SHOULD OF GOT THE BLU-RAY DVD VERSION. I KNOW IT WOULD OF BEEN ALOT BETTER THAN THE STANDARD VERSION I GOT. IF YOUR A KIND OF PERSON THAT LIKE MOVIES THAT INVOLVE GHOSTS/SUSPENSE THEN THIS MOVIE WILL BE GREAT FOR YOU. CHECK IT OUT.

I swore I reviewed this, but eBay sent a request, I looked, and my review is not listed-- in summary, there are too many times the plot just lurches from point to point, the story is illogical--

There is no reason, method, or means given for the "evil one" to have the power she has, the means for her accomplish what she does, and the opening death does not fit with any of the later deaths-- nor, for that matter, does any of the story. It seems to be cobbled together from a previous telling that had support from a cultural basis or something that is missing from this one.

I think it was a great way to plot a horror movie upon because nowadays people are obsessed with cell phones and maybe this will put a little scare into. I don't know what this other (resmond?) guy or whatever is talking about because he's totally wrong. The storyline is HARD to follow so if you're young you'll need an adult with you, but it's deffinatley hard! Instead of just a slasher movie this is hardered to follow. Why is this red candy falling out of the victims mouthes? Where did the mother dissapear to? Why won't Laurel talk? Who started this chain? Who's next? A SHOCKING DEATH AT THE END PROVES THAT YOU NEVER KNOW. Yes, the distorted faces are freaky and the speacial effects are great. I saw it with my friends from school and some girls and they were screaming. I was laughing cause they were screaming. HAHA it's great fun. It's really distrubing though. it's one of those somebody sees a ghost anf follows it to a room and sees something disturbing type of movies. It happens like 50 times. Also he said "there's noone you hope or could look to see die" Well there was a hottie named Taylor and it kind of sucked when she died :(

Movie wasn't really what I expected, I guess. I was hoping it would be scary but it sort of fell flat.

Take elements of two of the best horror movies of all time --- FINAL DESTINATION and THE RING --- and you should have a guaranteed winner. Yet ONE MISSED CALL seems kind of dull. I just didn't care about these characters. Finally I figured out why. In FINAL DESTINATION and THE RING, the main characters tried to actively solve the mystery of why their friends had died. They fought back, even when they appeared to be doomed. This made the movies suspenseful and exciting. But in ONE MISSED CALL, the main characters passively wait to be picked off one by one. That's not exciting, it's just sad. If your idea of entertainment is to simply watch people die in succession, this movie has some interesting special effects. But if you'd like at least the POSSIBILITY of someone figuring out what's going on and surviving, try a different film.

I love this movie. I don't like scary movies, but this one I can handle. It's somewhere in between scary and not so scary. It's a really good movie. I would recommend this to any other person.

Great Thriller / Horror Movie, worth the money & view..It will keep you on the edge of your seat of what will happen next..It makes you wonder if you really want a cell phone or not..More then likely not.

We bought the movie cause we was told it was a very good movie. I don't know if it is cause we haven't had time to watch it yet.We have 4 boys & we are very busy with them & work. Hopefully soon we can watch it.
