One Hundred Two Bird Houses (1984)

I received this book expecting it to be a small book with a few easy plans a lot of much harder plans for building birdhouse and feeders. When I received this book I went through it briefly but found out a lot. There are a lot of styles of boodhouses, birdfeeders and how to make a concrete birdbath. It has dimensions for what styles of birdhouses for what birds. the prints show exact measurements for cutting out pieces and small tips and hints.My husband is a semi retired carpenter and I'm going to put him to work! I know about the only tool he doesn't have is a jigsaw, so guess what he gets for his birthday in another month! I'm hoping to build some simple ones myself to start and I love to decorate them. I started last year
at camp and have the fever. I've purchased at least 20 different ones on E-bay this winter and will redo and decorate over half of them. Give me decals, paint, shelac and I'm in seventh heaven. I have several birdhouses, feeders and whatnots everywhere now and intend to expand this summer.
I also learned what colors attract birds and that they only like 1 1/4" of water in the birdbaths. They don't like deep water. I never could figure out why they'd play in the rain puddles and poop in the baths. Sometimes less IS better. I was talking to a friend at work today about the book which I received yesterday about the plans for a concrete birdbath. He wants it to make for his wife. I'll be glad to give it to him because this christmas he'll know the perfect gift for me.
I'm very pleased with this purchase and the price was cheap. What a great find on E-bay. Now, I need to find a book just as good that tells me more of what kinds of birds we have and what else they like. I've already been using my digital camera so I can be reminded in the winter of what I have to look forward to come spring. Again, this was a 1984 edition but in excellent condition and just what I'd been searching for. Love it!
