Not the best RHCP album, but still good
I purchased this cd because I am a pretty big fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers since Californication, and I wanted to get some of their older stuff. This album is a little different from the rest in my opinion and is the only one with guitarist Dave Navaro from Jane's Addiction. This came out after the RHCP's grammy winning album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which was a tough act to follow. I don't feel that it lived up to the greatness of that album (which is probably my favorite). At this point in time, the band shifted their musical style to a degree and it seems as though they were not exactly comfortable with it. This album is still good, don't get me wrong. It's just that it is not quite on par with the rest of their albums in my opinion. Is One Hot Minute worth buying? I think so, especially if you are a true RHCP interested in the evolution of their musical style. I am quite happy to have it in my collection.
