One Day Remains by Alter Bridge (CD, Aug-2004, Wind-Up Records)

ALL I KEPT THINKING WAS..........ALTER BRIDGE ..........ALTER BRIDGE!!!!!

I was disappointed when I heard that Creed had broken up because their music was very good (whatever may be said about some of the distractions with either their popularity or "good guy" image). When I heard that the "band" and Stapp would each be coming out with new albums, I was eager to hear what they had to offer. Whatever the future may hold for Stapp, and I am not terribly optimistic, Alter Bridge's "One Day Remains" is simply a phenomenal rock record.

The new lead singer, Myles Kennedy, is a top-quality vocalist. I think that was a problem with Creed. I enjoyed Stapp's lyrics - I found them deeply emotional, personal, and meaningful. But Stapp was not a remarkable vocal talent. He had the baritone sound embraced in the 90's and 00's, but he was not a powerful singer. He was better in the studio where he could get help. Often his live vocals were subpar. He didn't have much range. Goodness knows the same cannot be said for Kennedy. He has a tremendous voice. His range is out of this world. He is a fantastic lead for the band. I read some other reviewers complaining about his "ohs" and the like. I actually find it appealing that, as the others play their instruments, he uses his voice in similar fashion. That seems like what being a vocalist is all about (not that he doesn't play guitar as well).

Aside from the vocals, Tremonti's guitar has never sounded better. The same can be said for the rest of the guys. While the lyrics are very good, I do feel they are a little weaker than Stapp's. Nonetheless I think Tremonti did quite well in his own right.

The band recorded a good balance of hard rocking tunes and more melodic pieces (which are often my favorites: "Open Your Eyes", "Down to My Last", "Shed My Skin", and "The End is Near"). Whether as Creed or Alter Bridge, these guys have a gift for creating catchy tunes. All the tracks are quite good. I didn't feel anything was just thrown in. Of course, as with any music, we all have our tastes and some will appeal more than others.

I heartily encourage you to give it a listen. It is a great record.

Il y a quelques temps, j'ai decouvert le groupe " Alter Brdge " et j'ai décidé de faire l'acquisition de leur premier album intitulé " One Day Remains "
En cherchant sur le site, j'ai pu faire mon choix et acquerir cet objet.
Le choix a vite été fait car tous les produits étaint similaires : il n'y avait de version limité ou collector pour ce disque. Le contenu est très satisfaisant car l'album a une bonne durée d'écoute, etant donné le nombre de morceau.
Par contre, le point le plus décevant est la simplicit du coffret, se limitant à un simple boitier plastique. Ce qui est fort dommage pour les collectionneurs

I really like the CD, it combindes the powerful guitar of Mark Tremonti along with the incredible singing range of Myles Kennedy. If you liked Creed, this band is made up of 3 members of that former band that broke up. I also highly recommend the Blackbird CD. I bought this CD as a replacement to my one that was worn out. Alter bridge Rocks!

Alter Bridge's First Album is simply Great
I personally prefer Blackbird, but One Day Remains still a Great Album

i first heard of this band from ozzfest dvd . i liked the one song. the rest of the album is not that good. i thought the rest of the album would be as good. i was wrong only two good songs. i was disappointed.

I call them survivors because the destruction of any type of "family" necessarily leaves victims and survivors. Luckily for us, these survivors, with the addition of Myles Kennedy on vocals, have turned out a beautiful CD. Favorites are Broken Wings and Open Your Eyes. There are still a few echoes of Creed but all the songs on this CD are terrific. Their next CD Blackbird, which I also have, is clearly their own. I highly recommend that you buy both CDs.

I loved just about every song on this cd. There is one that I think could have had a better melody during the verse, but the rest was just awesome. I love the CD by Alter Bridge- BLACKBIRD- so I wanted to hear their first release and didn't think it would compare, but it is great. These guys are definitely my favorite band ever.

This CD rocks, my favorite song is metalinga cus it is Edge's theme from Smackdown. Dont think Edge is the best wrestler, but love the song!!!

I had a hard time trying to figure out which band I liked better, Alter Bridge or Creed. The moment I knew the answer was when I poped in a Creed CD and listened to it right after I had just finished listening to Alter Bridge. Alter Bridge is honestly lightyears ahead of Creed. And this is coming from a die hard Creed fan! The guitar and the music altogether is more complicated and sounds better than any other band, including Creed. The vocals are a bit better, but not clearer. Some songs are hard to understand before you listen to them a few times. But, the person who out does himself is Mark Tremonti. His song writing and guitar solos are taken to a level I doubt he even knew existed. Creed and many other bands are great, but pale in comparison to Alter Brige.
