One Bear One Dog by Paul Stickland (1997, Hardcover, Illustrated)

This simple children's book by Paul Stickland is a favorite in our house. My one year old made this the first book she attached herself too and demanded to be read over and over. This book contains rhythm and rhyme, both very important for the earliest stages of reading: phomemic awareness. It has a simple rhythm and predictably that grasps the attn of the young reader that isn't able to read yet. My daughter began saying the animal sounds and recognizing the animals by sight because of this book. I bought a few copies off EBay to give as gifts because she loves it so much. The end is worth it book for any toddler- its the best ending of all. Great illustration and good companion to his other book, Dinosaur Roar!
