Heart-warming continuation of Little House books

The suspicion that Rose Wilder Lane, already an accomplished writer had a writerly hand in the Little House books, published under her mother's name, is largely confirmed in this 10th book. The opening section, written by RWL reflects much of the style of the LH books. The remainder of On The Way Home is a diary by LIW. There are very interesting insights about America, as it was then, to be gleaned from this diary. And, there is one very emotionally-dramatic moment when the family arrives in Missouri and prepares to make the payment on their first farm. The characters are fitted into your mind and heart all the more with this book, which continues the living detail found in the Little House books. I've now read them all to my daughter, Dagny Anastasia, as her bedtime story and, since we live 1.5 hours from Mansfield, we will go visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder home this Spring. These books, including OTWH, should be part of the growing up experience of every girl, to be shared with her book-reading parent.
