This is a fantastic all around lens. Fast and sharp. Great quality
There is really no need to review this anymore as the best sites - DPreview.com
and Wrotniak.net - done it already. Make sure you read those.
The following is just MHO.
If you want a quality glass for travel this is the one. It offers nice wide and moderate tele capabilities, not to mention the macro shots this glass produces.
If you already have the 14-54mm it's not that huge difference however it's big step up from the kit lens - which considering it's size, weight, is pretty good itself especially for light travel.
I was debating between the 11-22mm or the 12-60mm. For about the same price this is much more lens plus the SWD. With the 9-18mm and the 70-300mm it will be a nice set.
I say don't worry, buy it, if you don't like it you can always sell it.

Decided to buy as an upgrade to my 14-42mm kit lens. Definitely an upgrade--better low light performance, sharpness, range, etc. Be aware that this lens doesn't currently support CDAF in live view on Olympus DSLRs. Didn't realize this and may have bought the 14-54mm II instead. I am happy with this lens and will give up the CDAF for the quicker and silent SWD focusing.

A lens all DSRL Olympus Users should have

As already a lot of user commented, this is a great upgrade from the already good kit lenses for the E-series of Oly. I use it with my E510 and eventhought not at its max as focus speed, this lens is incredibly fast and accurate, besides a comprensible and acceptable barrel effect at wide opening, this lens as pretty much no downsides. I believe only Olympus, beside the well renown Leica lenses, can produce such good glass. Summarizing all the pros and cons the price has to be considered adequate to the quality.
