Olympus Stylus 720 SW 7.1 Megapixel

Great camara for point and shoot. Images quality is pretty good, not as good as Canon SD550. Perfect for vacations and any other outdoor activity. I just love it.

UPDATED: Went the other day to the beach and took a lot of in water pics, the pics came out perfect.

HAVE USED AT WORK COMMERCIALLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS HAVE DONE OUR OWN DROP TEST WATER TEST AND ABUSED IT, I NOW OWN TWO PERSONAL ONES ONE FOR NORMAL USE AND ONE FOR UNDERWATER USE WITH A UNDERWATER HOUSING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND EASY TO USE.

Its very easy to used, convenient. Point and shoot. anybody with little or know how to used camera can manage this. Also very good under water.

i try to contact the seller about his camera and he was very unnice about it he was no help so i when to a camera store and they walked me thougt it and they fixed it as well and now it works great i wish the seller was a nice person he only was thinking of his camera and did not care about to help me at all now i got it working and i love it i was going to return it back to the seller now i am going to keep it

For the money, there really isn't anything else out there that can be submerged 10feet underwater and still take great pictures without an underwater case. This camera is supurb. Wish I could take an slr underwater but unless you're shooting for National Geographic (do you really need to?) Practically indestructible. Its simply worth the peace of mind knowing you can take this camera to beach, surf, drop it in the sand, and never have to worry about breaking it or having tiny particles invade and destroy the inner workings. Its still an ultra-compact, completely pocketable and very stylish with is brushed aluminium and chrome body.
Photo quality is resonable for a 7mp camera and under the right settings, this camera will perform flawlessly.
Amazing ISO range!! 64 - 1600!!! @ ISO-64 absolutely NO NOISE!!!

Only downside is the xd memory card limits the storage capacity compared to larger sd & cf cards. Definitely buy a couple 2gb xd's

The pictures are great! I dropped it the first day (on accident), and it has worked perfect always.
There is two things I wish were a little different. The video can be a little blurry at times, and not focus well. I wish it took a little better videos.
Second, the shutter speed is a little slow, and I wish it was a little more responsive when I tkae a photo.
I do really like the camera on a whole...

User friendly, takes great pictures, lightwieght and easy to handle. I got one of these cameras for christmas - recommended from a friend that has one - my camera was stolen in April so I went on ebay and searched for antoher one. It is just a simple, easy to use, compact camera with lots of function.

Very nice camera for the price, and the customer service is incredible. When I received the first camera it was missing a screw. Olympus insisted that I ship it back, which they paid for. My new camera, an upgrade from the initial camera(for the same price!), was at my door in just a couple day. It was the best experience I've had with any customer service anywhere. They really bent over backwards to make sure I was happy.

great idea, olympus!! this is one item i now cannot do without. the concept may be covered by disposables, but this idea should be embraced by other companies! props to olympus!

Takes great pictures but as soon as we got in the water to snorkel the camera filled up with water. It is suppose to water proof up to 10 feet. We bought the camera to take on our snorkeling trip to the Caribbean, but did not get to take any pictures of the snorkeling. Works great for on the beach or around any type of moisture.

The Stylus 720 I bought was a refurbished unit. The camera itself was in terrific shape with no blemishes noticeable. All functions seem to work just fine. It is easy to use and takes very sharp clear photos. I had to get used to not having a viewfinder, instead framing shots using just the screen, but that's just me - others might be used to the lack of a viewfinder - and that's certainly not a knock on the camera which must of necessity use the screen for framing photos when underwater.

The only gripe I have, and it's a considerable one, is that Olympus failed to include the Olympus Master CD-ROM (the one with the software for downloading pictures) in the box when they refurbished it. The box had an unbroken original factory seal on it so it's obvious that the CD-ROM was left out at the time of the Olympus factory refurbishment and not lost somewhere along the way. Trying to get a replacement CD-ROM from Olympus/Olympus Auctions is worse than pulling teeth. They keep telling me to download the upgraded version from their website, but it's not compatible with my operating system! I can't get them to understand that I bought the camera specifically becasue it used software compatible with my operating system. It's like I'm talking to someone in India or Pakistan, or I didn't press one for English, or something.

If you buy a refurbished Olympus Stylus 720 (or probably any other Olympus factory refurbished camera) you'll get a good camera, but good luck to you if they leave out the software CD-ROM.

It's shock * proof! I take it back country.
It's water * proof! I've tested it under water!
It's also affordable for the quality and features.

A sturdy piece of work, this camera travels well. Night shots can be a challenge; the battery, compared to other digi cams, is short lived. The underwater and shockproof features are the highlight of this camera but the newer 790 SW goes deeper. The image stabilization is very helpful in minimizing blurry images.

The camera is great. It wold be better if they would have taken a couple more minutes to buff off the outside of the camera. It is refurbished but it looks beat up.

This is a very nice camera. It has tons of features and if you really get confused you can just RESET it back to square one. Its a tough little camera and fits well in your shirt pocket. The no flash options really make for some nice pictures. The unit was a factory refurbished unit from Olympus. I definitely recommend getting one of these at a very good price.

Excellent camera, takes fabulous pictures. I especially love the stabilization feature. Very easy to use and small enough to take everywhere with you and not be in the way. Can easily capture everyday moments without a hassle!

I really like this camera so far! If you like tiny it is definitely the camera for you. I have kids and this camera seems pretty durable which my other cameras lacked. I always liked the picture quality that olympus had to offer so this seemed like a no brainer. The ease of opperation, picture quality, and large 2.5 in LCD screen is great. I was a bit concerned about the zoom quality of this camera but when I began to use it, the camera put it to rest! I am excited to take it to the pool this summer and not have to worry about getting it wet! If my kids drop it no worries! The only down fall is if you have big fingers you have to pay extra attention to not hitting other buttons! Great amera though!

Overall, I can't complain about my camera. I knew I wanted a durable, waterproof camera and saw great reviews of this one. After having it for awhile, I know that the images are of great quality and it's certainly a durable camera. However, on a recent trip to the ocean, I did take it snorkeling with me, keeping the camera just under the water's surface to take some shots. Unfortunately, water did seep in through the sealing and corroded a small bit of the camera and my memory card. There went half my vacation! But right when I got back, I sent it in to Olympus have it checked out and they fixed it really quick - keep the warranty handy! I have my camera back now and it's in great condition. I just won't be taking it into the water anytime soon, despite it's "waterproof" claims of up to 10 feet deep.

I bought this camera after buying one as a Christmas present for my son. I bought his new from a camera store but found mine on the Olympus refurbished site. Just kept bidding on dozens until one fell through the cracks at the price I wanted to pay. Although "refurbished" it looks like new to me, with a new battery, cables, disks, and a good warranty directly from Olympus. Obviously the main reason I bought this camera is because it is so tough and waterproof. My son and I are rough on cameras, he because he hikes and fishes a lot, me because I kayak. I wanted a camera that I could splash some water on, or even drop overboard tethered to a float and not worry about killing it. The all metal case looks and feels well designed, slick, and sturdy. Which it is if you can drop it 5' without breaking. I admit that I haven't doused it, dropped it, or jumped on it to test it; although I supposed I ought to at least dip it in the sink before the warranty runs out. The pictures I've taken look fine to me, especially the low light and macro shots, which were even better than expected. Fires up fast with little shutter delay in most situations. Movie mode is a bit jerky at 15fps, but I've already got a camcorder for that. Manipulating the menu is fairly straight forward and has a bunch of neat extras. The written manual is pretty useless, but there's a more extensive one on disk. Battery life seems a bit short, but it recharges quickly. I'm getting a generic back-up quite cheaply on eBay. Have had good luck with them with other cameras. Also, put a screen protecting piece of thin plastic meant for Palm pilot screens on its screen and bought a neat blue "skin" from Olympus for only $1.25, including Fedex 2-day shipping. This camera won't replace my 12X but it's great to have such a tough, little, easy to take anywhere, worry-free camera to carry with me all the times I either wouldn't want to bother with or dare take the bigger, delicate camera.

We took this camera on vacation... and it was great!!!! A wonderful overall little camera... the kids loved it... and when it was dropped... it kept on ticking like nothing. We took underwater photos which turned out great. This is is one tough, versatile little camera!!!!
