Olympus CAMEDIA D 545 Zoom 4.0 Megapixel

I love all the scene selections, as they really do help the picture clarity and i love the ease of using the menue and setting the camera...its very easy to navigate and use, BUT, i have had many issues with the camera and its focusing. It doesnt want to focus, and this is the third one, as i have used the warranty, and everytime, after about a month, the focus starts to not work. I also have had an issue, now twice, when using the plug in power cord. The cord, after several uses, will not connect when inserted into the camera...i have taken the cord and replaced the connector tips, ive gotten new cords, and its not the cords, its the camera..deep within where the cord connects dies out over several uses and again, it IS the camera and not the cord itself or the cord tip. I am not currently fed up and not even going to bother with the warranties anymore and go and buy a new brand of camera...I usually love Olympus and always go for an Olympus, but this model needs some improvement!! I give it a 5 out of 10...but the warranty is super!!! lol.

Camera is very compact and lightweight. It has a good size LCD screen. It takes a good picture. Definitely a great camera for the money. However, it is not top of the line. Camera does not seem very rugged. It also takes a while to process the picture taken. LCD screen is a little fuzzy. If you are looking for something more than for taking casual pictures, you might want to look elsewhere. If you are looking for an inexpensive camera to just snap pics, it is so far very good!

The camera I received was refurbished and although it has an inspection sticker on it, it looks used. The viewer is slightly scratched and is not the quality I expected however it does take good pictures. I think I definately overpaid though.

This is my first and only digital camera and I just love it!! It is soooooo easy to use! I didn't have to read the manual first because the dial and buttons and on-screen menu are very self-explanetary! When I'm taking a bunch of pictures I need to have back-up batteries ready though. I use the rechargables and always have some ready to go. I still like the surprise and excitement of getting film developed from my 35mm camera, but I needed a digital camera in order to have pictures for my eBay listings. You can't buy this camera in the stores any more, so if you see one listed on eBay, you need to get it while you can!

As a compact backup for a bulkier Olympus big brother the D 545 is a bit of a disappointment in comparison to the comparable D 580. Although the two compacts have nearly the identical specs, the D 580 is a better performer with slightly superior sharpness and color. The addition of an A/V connection and sound for movie recording are big pluses which are all missing from the D 545. A somewhat cumbersome menu is a common characteristic in both cameras, but not important to most users who don't know what the menu does. The camera is good for a beginner or youngster, but for a more demanding user the D 580 is the better choice. A check of offerings shows that it holds its value too.

I needed a camera I could let my kids and wife use. I have a much more expensive and more complicated camera I dont like to let them use. I bought this one because it was cheap and easy to use. It works great for them. The buyer I bought it from did not include a chip for the camera, that sucked.
