Solid performer at budget price

This unit lacks a built-in tuner, which most people will never need anyway due to cable boxes or satelite boxes. The image quality on the screen is excellent, and the controls that allow fine-tuning of the picure are quite good. In comparison to a higher-end brand, there are some things that aren't done as well, but if your expectations aren't too high, this is a great model.

) I purchased the Syntax Olevia LCD HDTV in December. It is one of the lower priced LCDs but it has an amazing picture quality and the audio is great. I believe the Syntax company was acquired by Philips - just an FYI. The TV does not have its own tuner which is OK with me - I subscribe to a satellite service so need to use their tuner anyway. I've not yet upgraded to HD service but the standard service is just fine - the image quality on the TV is amazing. I would give this an excellent rating but I wanted people to read the review and know that the TV does not have its own tuner.
