The Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All (DVD, 2004)

Diane Lane, Donald Sutherland, Anne Bancroft, and Cicely Tyson shined in their roles. They should have all been nominated for awards for this piece. The writers did an outstanding job. The costumes and sets are very detail oriented making them authentic. I love period pieces, and this movie is a reason why. You will laugh, be outraged, and cry all in the time it takes to watch this movie.

I've seen this movie about 7 or 8 times!!! I have it on VHS and wanted to own the DVD. It is a MUST for every Southerner.

This movie was like a look back in history. Seeing the last of their kind disappear. Things like this really makes me think about our southern and american heritage.

I decided to purchase this movie because I remember seeing it on TV a long time ago, and haven't seen it since. I thought it was a good movie and I really liked the fact it is based on a true story.
I recommend this movie for anyone who enjoys a good story with a little romance, and I would also reccomend it to anyone interested in history and the Civil War,it will leave you walking away with real compassion for any solider and their families.

Ok...so some of this movie is hard to watch... For instance, there's a really old geezer married to a really young girl. Unspeakable! The same old geezer is lost in memories (really gruesome memories) of the Civil War. Unpleasant, indeed! But unwatchable? Not hardly.
What makes this movie a keeper, is the fact that it's a true story, a piece of History! Hard to believe, but this saga is a composite of the memories of the young-girl-grown-old drifting back to the oft' told memories of the old-dude-done-gone. All in all, it's a pretty fascinating mix. Watch it. You may be surprised.
