Old Montgomery Land Office Records and Military Warrants, 1834-1860 by Marilyn Davis Barefield, United States (1991, Book, Illustrated)

This book is an excellent compilation of land office records including Indian deeds. Of special interest to me are the lists of some of Alabama's earliest settlers which would be a treasure trove for anyone interested in genealogy.
Another particularly interesting section, covering the formation of various Alabama counties, would appeal to anyone interested in early Alabama history. Finally, there are numerous maps showing Alabama from when it was first created as part of the Mississippi Territory through statehood and the establishment of the counties contained in the state.
I consider this book to be an excellent purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in not only Alabama history or genealogy but in the southeastern part of the country as well.

This Book provides lots of information at a very low price. It allows you to find names that may of been misspelled that a internet search engine cannot provide. It covers a very large area of Montgomery Alabama that is now split up into many different Counties. This book has many illustrated maps of counties as they were developed through the years 1802 to 1903.
