Old Jules by Mari Sandoz (1997, Hardcover)

Everything about this book was appealing. It is interesting that so few books portray the real life qualities of "olden days". We hear so many people say, "If I only could go back in time and live in the simpler days . . ." Well, they forget that it was lots of hard work, lots of dirty work, and the same problems with less conveniences. This book preserves history in a way similar to the "Little House" books by Wilder, but it is the grown-up version. It proves that although time moves on, people remain so unchanged in the different times. We have come so far from pioneers like Old Jules. I loved it and can't wait to share it with others.
