Okuma Helios H78a - Value, Quality & Performance
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.
Enjoyed using the Okuma during a guide trip. Not often that you see Okuma set-ups during guide trips but I tried and was not at all disappointed. It performed with no issues and has the quality of a $600 reel.
Used it with an Orvis Helios Switch 118-4. For you Orvis fanatics out there - it was no insult to place an Okuma on it. Funny that the name Helios is related but note that Orvis first coined the Helios name with there infamous rods.
Importantly, I was landing some steelies with no problem.
Below I have listed some info about Okuma's Helios Reels:
Okuma continues to develop the most technological advancements in fishing tackle without compromising performance or value. Those were the thoughts when they decided to build the ultimate fly reel, the Helios series. This machined aluminum frame and spool fit the demands of the most experienced fly fishermen. Its multi-disk waterproof drag and one way clutch bearing make this the jewel of the highly regarded Okuma line of fly reels.
Additional features of the Helios Fly Reel include the following:
===Maintenance-free waterproof drag system
===Multi-disk cork and stainless drag washers
===Roller bearing engages drag in one direction
===2BB + 1RB stainless steel bearing drive system
===Precision machined stainless steel spool shaft
===Anodized aluminum Machined Rigid Frame
===Non-slip positive grip rubberized handle knobs
===Easy conversion from left to right hand retrieve
