The Okay Book by Todd Parr (2004)

This book has been a part of my daycare library for about a year or so, and I love to bring it out when the older school age kids are picking on each other and calling each other names.
The book has comical illustrations with straight forward, short and simple reminders that it's okay to be different! Areas in which it's okay to be different might be in a person's size, color, food preference, emotions, intelligence, and much more.
The kids get a kick out of the very colorful, comical stick person illustrations, and always bring up their own ideas of where it's really okay to be DIFFERENT! While the text is geared toward the very young child from about 1-3 or 4, the older child will benefit from being reminded that they don't need to make fun of another person just because he or she is different.
Thank you for reading my review, and I hope it helps you determine whether THE OKAY BOOK is right for adding to your library.
Sincerely,
