The Official Precious Moments Collector's Guide to Figurines by Bomm John, Malinda Bomm (2006, Paperback)

The book is a piece of junk, that's for sure. The prices are ridiculous, and the people who wrote it have hardly been collecting long enough to know anything about it. All that notwithstanding, the info regarding Greenbook as listed above is NOT true at all. I worked for GREENBOOK and they were NOT owned or affiliated with ENESCO at all - it was an indendent business just like any other small business. We spent ages working on prices for the books, comparing prices from dealers across the country. Sorry to say, the book is no more, but it took a dive just like a lot of other things did, INCLUDING the prices of Precious Moments items, when people started spending more time on eBay and on the Internet and gave up reading books and using these for references. Incidentally, there is a lot of misinformation in the book, and a lot of items which are missing from it. There was one long-time collector who was keeping track of all the missing items and errors in it, but it is so bad now, he finally gave up and called it quits.

Your best bet for figuring out what you want to do for prices on your pieces is to get the current catalogs from the company - Enesco for the first 25 years of the collection, and now Precious Moments Inc. You will see these come up for sale from time to time on eBay. That way, you will know what the original price is you paid for your piece (minus taxes, shipping, etc.) and you will have a photo of the piece. Basically, if you want to keep track of the value of your collection, you'll have to begin by keeping records of it and keep at it - there is no easy way any more. Then, if and when you go to sell something, you'll at least know what you paid for it. And don't expect to start low and receive a ton of bids, because while that once happened about 10 years ago, the more stuff gets listed and people keep dropping their prices desperately to try and get a sale. I have actually been at sales in time past where "Free Puppies" did, in fact, sell for $1200. Generally over the years, it went for in the $850 area with a box and a Sam B. autograph (that does NOT mean a Jonathan and David logo, BTW). Now, you are lucky to get $400 for it here on eBay. Sorry day for the Collection, but facts is facts, as they say.
