OK, I was a bit concerned when I first learned that an American version of "The Office" was on the way. As a huge fan of the original British series I was very skeptical of this "intruder". However, I started to feel a bit better when I found out that Steve Carell (The 40-Year Old Virgin, The Daily Show) would play the lead. After the first episode finally aired on NBC I was still concerned since it was pretty much an exact clone of the British series but just not as good. However, by episode 2 the series began developing its own identity and I have been a fan ever since.
<p>I won't go into too much detail and ruin anything, but I would like to point out that Steve Carell is brilliant in the lead role and the supporting players are superb. The shows are well written and there are plenty of "Did they really just say that?" moments. Without hesitation I can comfortably recommend this wonderful series to all!

Based on the hit BBC sitcom, The Office: Season 1 is the Americanized version of this hysterical sarcastic and funny mockumentary of working life. Steve Carrell wonderfully plays Michael Scot – the idiotic simpleton manager who controls a less-than-stellar group of analysts. Carrell considers himself a masterful academic and manager – and that’s half the fun of it. The other half? The show is shot as a “mockumentary” (think Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, the BBC Office series, etc) and is part from Correll’s point of view and part from the employees’ point of view.
If you’ve worked in a cubicle – you will somehow relate to the antics and relationships forged in this show. If you enjoyed “Office Space” – this is the sitcom version – but somehow more sadistic and satirical. If you like the “Meet the Family” make-you-feel-uncomfortable humor, this show thrives on it. If you like Steve Correll, The Daily Show, or The 40 Year Old Virgin, you’ll love The Office.
And like Arrested Development, The Office takes a little patience and getting used to. Its very different than the traditional Friends sitcoms – it truly strange and that’s part of the fun. So watch a couple episodes, get into the series and you’ll be hooked!

How can you not love this series! I stated watching the BBC version years ago and I loved it. Then when I heard NBC was going to do make their own version of the show, I watched just to see them fall on their faces.
But I was soooo wrong! I really think the U.S. version is so much more funny. I love the interaction between Jim and Pam. I thoroughly enjoy watching Michael make a complete fool out of himself.
But the best is when Jim, sometimes with the help of Pam, does things to irritate Dwight who is played so wonderfully by Rainn Wilson.
The only think negative about the series is I am always disappointed when the show is over. Having this Box set lets me watch several shows at a time. So I can get my "Office" fix anytime I need it.

The posting was confusing...it listed Season 2 but had information on Season 1. The disc worked, it was just not the whole season...there were @ least 3-4 missing discs. I don't understand why you would sell one disc of a set. Odd communications w/the seller too. They asked if I really thought I was going to get a whole set for $.99?! Well...ya...I did!

I bought The Office-Season One for my daughter's 13th birthday. We are both already huge fans of the show, and have viewed season one already, as reruns. The Season One dvd includes the six original episodes, a lot of extended play deleted scenes(not just the choppy clips some collections show), and commentary. The DVD itself is easy to navigate and a pleasure to watch again and again! We can't wait to share it with people that haven't seen the show yet!

This show goes right for the nerves, then jumps up and down on them. If there is a hot button they push it. If anyone has EVER worked in an office they will understand and enjoy the twisted humor of this show. Steve Carrell is fantastic and it is scary how many bosses he reminds me of. This is my revenge on those crap bosses...I get to laugh when others are treated the same way...it feels good when it isn't you. Crazy how funny it is.

I missed a handful of the shows from the first season and BOY AM I GLAD I GOT THIS DVD SET! Awesome! The show is the most hilariuos thing on TV. Anyone who has ever worked the "Land of the Cubicles" can relate to this show. You can find this DVD set for less than $12 used with shipping and less than $17 with shipping new.

I watched The Office beginning in the middle of season 1. I was hooked from the first episode I saw & couldn't wait to see more. The actors have developed their characters with hilarious results, but an unrequited love story provides dramatic balance. What's better than a program that evokes laughter and tears in half an hour?
The office staff state their motives, grievances, fears and hopes through a video "documentary" that records the inner workings of a paper company.
Michael Scott is the boss who believes he is loved by everyone, fooling no one but himself. I thought he was just a tad too predictable and then, wham!; a look of sadness or wistfulness is momentarily on his face before he launches another idea doomed to fail. Without that aspect of the character's development, he would be unlikeable to me.
The rest of the cast is composed of actors who look, talk & act like the close-knit bunch found in most offices. Of course, there's usually a few coming unraveled. Each one is in such close proximity that the actions of one is always having an effect on others. Each actor convincingly achieved the conversation, actions and mannerisms of a group of regular joes trying to make a living. The interactions with one another are spot on. It's light-hearted and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to kick back and have fun. Mmm, maybe you better grab the tissue box, too.

Ever since I first saw an episode of this show I have been in love with it. I'm not going to sit here and bore you with an explain of all that background nonsense, because you could read it in other reviews below.
Basically, if you haven't seen "The Office" then you don't know what your missing. I would recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys some comedy about what the workplace can be like. The characters in the show are all very real and that is what makes it. The situations that happen you can believe actually would happen. Personally, I've never seen the original English version of the show, but I know this one is great.
Check out the deleted scenes too, because there are some funny scenes that shouldn't be missed.

I say that with great respect for the BBC version, but I missed quite a bit of the cultural innuendo because I'm not as familiar with British-isms. For that reason I prefer the American version and look forward to every episode. It's found its own voice and the characters have matured in a successful and beloved spinoff!

This is a great DVD. Michael, Dwight and the rest of the gang get this series off to a great start. Go back to where it all begins and see why they are just how they are.
It has all the regular episodes and extra material that didnt make the show. They also have deleted scenes that are very funny.
My only problem is that there are only a few episodes on the DVD (6 or 8 I think), but I wont hold that against them. That is all the episodes there were in season 1. Season 2 will have many more and I have them on VHS off TV but plan to buy the Season 2 DVD as soon as it is released. This is a great buy and I would get in in a heart beat...if I didnt already have it. Get it now before Dwight buys them all and takes them with him for his long flight to Mordor or Meredith sells them all for more drinks!

Perfect ConditionThe DVD came in excellent condition. It was sealed just like advertised. However, when watching the DVD it skipped in one spot. It could be our DVD player, but it has not done that on other DVDs. Despite this we were still satisfied with the DVD.

THE BEST TV SHOWI just became addicted to the office. The humor isn;t fro everyone, but I love it. It's like SNL type funnies that everyone can't get but for those of us who can...it's a winner. If you like Will Ferrell, Dana Carvey type movies The Office is for you.

I started watching THE OFFICE just recently. I went to visit my daughter in NC and she had all of the seasons on DVD. I stayed a week with her and we ended up watching every single episode while I was there. I have never laughed so hard in my whole life!!! I loved these so much I came home and bought every one of the seasons on EBAY. My daughter got me Season 5 for my birthday so I am all caught up and now watching it every Thursday night! Can't wait to see Jim and Pam's wedding this coming Thursday!!!!!!!!!
