Odd Thomas (Dean Koontz)

Odd Thomas delivers everything you can ask for in a book. It's a must read in my opinion!!!

One of my All-Time Favourites!!!

Odd Thomas has it all, a likeable head character, a great supporting cast and a superb storyline.

I purchased Odd Thomas after reading the first chapter in Maxim magazine, I had to wait a month for the book to come out, but it was well worth the wait.

Odd Thomas will grab hold of you and pull you in. You will not be able to put it down.

Final Verdict:

Borrow or Buy: A Definate Buy!!! This book is great whether you are a fan of Dean Koontz or not.

Be sure to check out Forever Odd and the upcoming Brother Odd (December, 2006).

I love to read books by Dean Koontz, and this one was no exception. Odd Thomas is a page turner, not the usual scary stuff but excellent in suspense. Odd Thomas is a lovable young man who can see and understand the dead to solve what were mystery that maybe at hand. He is sensitive to the needs of the dead and the living. In some aspects as you read this book you wonder why there couldn't be people like him in real life, and you begin to feel that you know him. Things in your everyday world can keep us wondering why something is happening, why there is no explanation. What does it take to solve a mystery? What is that bumping sound caused by? What was that blurred vision you saw off to the side. Put yourself in Odd Thomas shoes for these are the things that follows him everyday of his life.

Can't think of a better faster read in a quite awhile..
Way to go DK!

I happened upon the second book in this series by mistake. Now I am addicted and have purchased the others and will purchase the new book once it is released. Honestly, if I don't have my daily dose, I get antsy. I highly recommend this book, but be forewarned, you will become an addicted Dean Koontz and Odd Thomas fan!

  Favorite Book Of All Time!

Bought this book for my mother years ago as a book collection I was buying her for Christmas. She let me borrow it and I read it. Fell in love with the book, characters and Dean Koontz. Fast paced and quirky. Bought it for myself so I can read again!

About The Book:

"The dead don't talk. I don't know why." But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Meet Odd Thomas. Sometimes the silent souls who seek Odd out want justice. Occasionally their otherworldly tips help him prevent a crime. But this time it's different. A stranger comes to Pico Mundo, accompanied by a horde of hyena-like shades who herald an imminent catastrophe. Aided by his sould mate, Stormy Llewellyn, and an unlikely community of allies that includes the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Odd will race against time to thwart the gathering evil. His account of these shattering hours, in which past and present, fate and destiny converge, is a testament by which to live - an unforgettable fable for our time destined to rank among Dean Koontz's most enduring works.

I recently read the 2nd in Odd Thomas series, and realized there were 3 of these stories on "Odd Thomas" by Koontz. This purchase was for the lst of the series and I immediately looked on Ebay, since this was an older book and got a good deal. Loved reading about this guy "Odd" and have since purchsed the 3rd one of the series on "Odd" from Ebay, also.

You Haven't Read ODD THOMAS Before!

Let's face it, there are just so many plots around, and we have all read them in many versions. I promise you that you haven't read ODD THOMAS before (unless, of course, you have read ODD THOMAS before.) Dean Koontz is a master of fish-out-of-water fiction, but ODD THOMAS is fresh and new. I could not do the plot justice, but this is a scary, intelligent, and funny book.

Once you have read ODD THOMAS, you will be so happy to know a second installment, FOREVER ODD, is now available. Even then, you will be wishing for more. JANN SNYDER

  Excellent, Captivating READ!

I received this book as a gift 3 days ago and finished it last night. It was difficult to put down. Dean Koontz held me captivated by his chararacter, Odd Thomas. Throughout the book it was suspenseful and thrilling, yet human and romantic. I especially loved that it was written in 1st person. The ending wowed me, caught me off guard, yet left me satsified, which is quite a feat, as most books have endings that leave me feeling like something was missing. Overall, this book is TERRIFIC and I cannot wait to read the next in the series, Forever Odd and the book that is new in the series, Brother Odd. If they are half as good as this first, they are definately worthy of their cover price.

  VERY GOOD READ!
Review created: 07/02/06

This is Dean Koontz at his best!!! The very compelling hero of the story is Odd Thomas(yes, that is his name). He is just and ordinary guy in a small town working an ordinary job as a short order cook.... but Odd has one extraordinary trait,,,,,he can see dead people. He interacts with the dead people very naturally as he has be used to seeing them and isnt frightened. The plot of the story keeps the reader interested and moves along quickly. There are a few segments that seems a little wordy but al in all a GREAT READ!

I really enjoyed this book. I think it was well written, suspenseful and I found the main characters likeable. I would not recommend it for children under 18 due to violence which might scare a teen. Overall I highly recommend this book but I wish it had a happier ending!

I've read in a long time. I had seen the 3rd book in the series...Brother Odd...in an airport kiosk and bought it, loved it, and now I'm starting the series from the beginning. I am NOT disappointed! Odd Thomas is a great character....humble without being smug about it, and all too human...never mind that he sees dead people. I'm already lined up to read the next book in the series....the only thing I won't like is when I reach the end of the series!

  Book: Odd Thomas
Review created: 11/17/08

I love Dean Koontz and he has certainly done it again with his Odd Thomas series! Odd Thomas takes a little while to really get in to, but once you do, you will be forever thankful! If you've never read this book before, you would do good to go ahead and buy the other two books in the series because you will want to read them right after you put this one down!

  ODD THOMAS
Review created: 11/04/08
by:

I had read other Koontz novels and thought I'd try this one. Odd Thomas is the name of a rather eclectic character who sees ghosts and has a few other powers beyond the ken of the normal man. I really enjoy his sense of humor and have since read three other "Odd Thomas" novels. My only critique is that it is hard to believe a man as young as Odd is, twenty-one, can be so erudite and philosophical. His perspective is so mature compared to most of the young men in the world, but I have met a few who were about as complicated, so I guess he is just one of the rare exceptions. Certainly the genre of mystery/sci-fi is a most interesting way to present a plot!

I love this book! It has a great story line and a lot of twists! I love that Odd can see Elvis. The ending was very sad. Not what I was expecting. I have the other two books in the series. I hope there are more books about Odd Thomas. He is a easy character to love!
