Ocean's Eleven (DVD, 2001)

I grew up in this era and after seeing the New remake of Oceans Eleven, then the spinoff Oceans Twelve, re-watching the original, made the other two even better. Mission Impossible was probably a spin on this master mining of the ultimate heist. Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were always up to no good whenever they met on the movie screens. You'll love it. Though the original was in the 60's, the DVD digital re-mastering in 2001 did not hurt the movie.

This is the orginal movie with the "Rat Pack". It is great to see what Las Vegas looked like in the early 60's. The ending is great. Not at all like the newer Ocean's Eleven. This is a must if you've seen the newer 11,12,& 13. Or if you enjoy the old Ratpack movies.

It is not uncommon these days to see more and more 'remakes' of some of the great legendary efforts from Hollywood's proud past, which may tell us all something about the movies these days; that there is neither an abundance of orginality, nor talent for that matter, and the 'business' end of the industry is out to rip off the public with sub-standard Xerox knockoffs !!!

Of course, if George Clooney is going to rely on 'remakes', you can't fault him for his choices, just the BAD RESULTS (see 'FAIL-SAFE).

All one would need do to confirm my opinion would be to see the original version of "OCEAN'S 11" and then compare.

It is hoped that there are TRUE FANS out there who would still appreciate one of the best efforts of the legendary 'RAT PACK', as they skillfully loot five Las Vegas casinos of millions of dollars in cash with an imaginative plan; by non-violent means.

ALSO, please note that these guys did alright just doing different and originial movies during thier careers; singly as well as together.

The DVD includes some good special features, such as commentary from the director, as well as a segment from 'The Tonight Show', with Sinatra interviewing Angie Dickinson about their work in this classic film.

To me, no one could do better than the CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD & CO !!!!!

When I was younger I saw this movie, then the new one came out. There was such a difference that. Its not really fair to compare them because of the differences between times and their styles of making movies. I felt that the original offered more personality. Maybe its the difference in actors or just nostalga, but I would reccomend seeing this film anyway, I enjoyed it so much more. When I saw it was on dvd I decided to purchase it for a small library of movies that I enjoy.

I bought the NewPhone 74205 three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive phone. It has a 1M-pixel camera, video camera, and speakerphone. The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.

Wow, what a waste of money. I thought the cast insured a good movie but not so much. After the initial disappointment I decided to keep it for the scenes that have them performing. Most of my movie collection are old movies, this however, is not in the top 10 by any means.

When I saw this movie re-mastered on DVD, I jumped on it. There is something about viewing the original made back in the 60's as apposed to the new digital movies made in today's high tech. enviroment. This original with Sinatra & the Rat Pack is definitly one that needs to be in your collection. While the new version with Clooney and his gang is more digitally entertaining, this original is reflective of the way movies were made back in the 60's. It is a tribute to how Vegas was at that time. Most of these old hotels have been demolished... as is the fact that all these Stars have left us to meet their maker...it is indeed a piece of history. If you can still find one...get it.. you will not be dissapointed.

This caper comedy, perhaps the most uncharacteristic film of director Lewis Milestone's career, stars Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean. He pulls together a collection of ten old war buddies to pull a heist of five casinos on the same night. Not surprisingly, the characters happen to be members of the fabled Rat Pack: Sam Harmon (Dean Martin), Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.) Mushy O'Connors (Joey Bishop) and Jimmy Foster (Peter Lawford). Everything goes right until, of course, something goes wrong.

This is a priceless DVD. Not only is the movie great, but the full length commentary by Frank Sinatra Jr and Angie Dickinson adds so much. Also, there is great footage of old casinos, some departed, that is great for Las Vegas history buffs. Great acting, and scenery.

A hard to find DVD at a reasonable price. Got a bargain by getting it through ebay. DVVD was delivered in a fast manner and was easy to pay for online.

The newer version Is much better than this old Rat Pack version. I tend to like the old original versions better than the remakes, but not this time . I own both movies and will watch the newer movie again but will not watch this one again. This older movie is boring and harder to follow. The newer movie will keep your attention. Better acting and effects too.

I have the whole new collection and wanted the original to go with it. It's a little slow getting going, but it's a good movie. Somewhat different then the newer ones. Definitaly worth the watch!!

this is an old favorite of mine. couldn't find it in the stores. the service was great. didn't have to leave my home. had it on hand. fast mailing saved gas. didn't fight traffic. the dvd is great!!!!!!!!!!! a great experience. more time for me. thanks ebay

The movie was in delivered in original wrapping as promised, indicating that it was in fact new. However once the movie case is opened, the latch that covers the side became very loose and its impossible to close. Just hope nothing spills on it and damages my DVD.

THIS IS A TOTAL WONDERFUL MOVIE. I RECOMMEND COMPLETELY. fUNNY, SUSPENSEFUL, AND A SURPRISING ENDING.

Fans of the Rat Pack and Las Vegas will like the nostaglic look back at old Las Vegas. Brings back memories of the Flamingo, Stardust, etc. The interactive map of old Las Vegas puts the hotels in perspective of where they were and who replaced them. Not the best movie compared to todays standards but nice to see the Rat Pack all together. Not as entertaining as the modern version but I bought the movie for a Rat Pack fan.

How can I even begin to write a review for this classic!? Perhaps I'm partial due to the fact that I'm a fan of Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack, but this original film just has something that the recent remake didn't have. Of course, this original didn't have all the spectacular special effects that apparently make a film great today, but instead it had something else that is rarely found in modern cinema.
I, like many others, unfortunately saw the recent remake before this one and it may have spoiled my viewing experience. However, after watching "Ocean's Eleven" (original) several times, I began to appreciate it in a more classic sense, meaning simply that I managed to see that "something" that one experiences when one views an old film. Maybe in this case it was the Rat Pack in Vegas in all it's glory and glamor. But aside from "all that jazz" (to quote a popular expression of the time), it was just refreshing to see the true ole gang together for a good ole heist.
The original "Ocean's Eleven" has something that the recent remake and subsequent films doesn't have, and although the new films are, nevertheless, undoubtedly entertaining, they cannot be compared to the classic 1960 film. The original "Ocean's Eleven" is a film that cannot be remade. There just aren't films like this one anymore, but then again, there just isn't a Rat Pack anymore either.

This is the orginial movie "Oceans Eleven" with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Joey Bishop. By far a much better movie than the George Clooney version. It's fun, I'm a big Sinatra fan, so am collecting all his movies. In fact I was in Las Vegas, when the movie was being filmed, and was fortune enough to see the Rat Pack on stage and also got to watch them film afew scene's of the movie. A very Unforgettable moment in my life.

We ordered this DVD because we like old movies and have ordered others and the prices are good. The DVD is in fine working order. It took some time to get it, though, and that is why I give a "Good" rating, rather than "Excellent." Our experience has been the same with all of the movies that we have ordered. Good quality, good prices, takes a while to get them, sometimes a few weeks.

THE OCEANS ELEVEN DVD DOES NOT PLAY. THE DVD IS DEFECTIVE AND I WASTED MY MONEY BECAUSE THE SELLER DID NOT RESPOND TO MY EMAIL ABOUT THE PRODUCT NOT WORKING. I ASKED THE SELLER TO EITHER REFUND MY MONEY OR SEND ME A NEW ONE.

we saw this movie when it it first came out , so we wanted to see it again but after viewing it again the new oceans 11 was better to much talking , was not good at all ,the ending was the best part
