This is one of my favorite movies. I usually love the Coen brother's films and this one is just like them - quirky, smart and funny.
Loosely based on The Odyssey, Clooney plays Ulysses, Everett Ulysses McGill that is, a convict who escapes the chain-gang while attached to the the dim Pete (John Turturro) and the dimmer Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson). Everett tells his companions of a hidden treasure which he will share with them if they help him escape. On the way they meet a blind prophet, a cyclops (John Goodman), sirens, a man who sold his soul to the devil, a bank robber, the KKK and politicians on campaign.
The acting is excellent, the script is smart and funny - as usual with the Coen brothers - and the cinematography is beautiful! Of course the cd became a huge hit and the cool thing is that the music is part of the film - not just background noise like in most movies. Highly recommended.
