Although the bubble-gum boom cooled off considerably, this compilation still finds room to include Britney's Prince-flavored "I'm A Slave 4 U" and of course competing cuts by N Sync ("Gone") and Backstreet Boys ("Drowning"). Hip-hop and R&B dominate Volume 9, whether its southern rookie Petey Pablo ("Raise Up"), Roc-A-Fella superstar Ludacris ("Roll Out [My Business]"), or Def Jam stablemates Case and Ja Rule ("Livin' It Up").
Along with homegrown divas like Mary J. Blige ("Family Affair") and Jennifer Lopez ("Ain't It Funny") are Canadian Nelly Furtado ("Turn Off The Light") and Colombian Shakira ("Whenever, Wherever").
