Not I But Christ

This is a wonderful book written several years ago by Roy Hession who was a personal friend. He was from the U.K. and not only wrote books but was a well known speaker and evangelist all over the world. He has written many books but this one is a favorite. It is the story of Saul and David. Roy shows us that Saul is a picture of self wanting to control everything and be king. Because Saul wanted to do things his own way rather than God's, David was chosen by the Lord to replace Saul. It took many years for this to take place even though David was chosen by God because Saul was not willing to give place to David. We, too, do not want to give the Lord that place of being "King" in our lives - we want to control and run things. Roy shows us how to have a heart like David, even though he like us failed often. David was repentant and contrite and that was God's number one requirement in His kingdom. This is a book that is worth reading again and again.
