Nokia 6236i (Verizon Wireless)

When my family all bought cellphones together several years ago, the free phone that came with the Verizon package was a Nokia. I don't remember the model number, but it was a basic little phone... My father accidentally ran his over with an ambulance. The screen was shot, but the phone worked... Ever since then I've used only Nokia phones.

I've had my 6236i for almost two years, and while I had some issues with it powering off unexpectedly, replacing the battery seems to do the trick. My phone has been dropped, talked on for hours, travelled the eastern seaboard, and seen me through a lot. I get a great signal in places that other Verizon phones have had trouble, and other providers don't reach at all. The volume adjusts readily and while the speaker's not great, it's better than many I've heard.

I love this phone because it's one of the few bar style phones that is available to Verizon users, and it has a decent set of features... having said that, it does have it's faults. If you're thinking about getting this phone because it seems rugged, do not get it. The first one I had would randomly switch itself off, sometimes in the middle of a conversation, even when it had full battery. After about 8 months it cut off and never came on again. Verizon replaced it with a new one. About a month later, I put it in my back pocket and sat on it, thinking that the phone would have no problem coping with that... now the screen is shot and again, it won't even turn on.

Only buy this phone if you plan on babying it.

This phone gets reception in places where other phones I've owned haven't. The battery is long-lasting and voice/audio quality are excellent. You can even use it to listen to FM radio (using an earphone/headset). If you buy a DKU-2 cable, you can synchronize the phone's calendar, contacts and task software with Outlook on your PC.

Note that the phone is smaller than it looks. It's a great, reliable little phone that isn't flashy but works great!

I LOVE my nokia 6236i phone. This phone is small enough to fit in my pocket, any pocket. I use the speaker phone part all the time, put the speaker on and put it in my upper pocket and go about my yard work and can talk at the same time. Would be great if you didnt have to use the ear piece for the radio though. The battery life is great, charge it once a week. There are not many non-flip phones any more. This is such a great phone. In my opinion, Nokia got this one just about perfect, on a school rating id give it a A+ . Awesome phone!!!

I already owned a Nokia 6236i cell phone, but managed to run over it with a large SUV, but it still worked although you could not see the screen. I went back to my local Verizon store. They said they had discontinued the phone, although I had only had it for appx 6 months. The assistant said I would have to pay about $300 for a similar new phone. I said thanks but no thanks. I went to e-bay and got a brand new one for around $165. It is a great little phone and does everything I need from a cell phone. The design is done so well, it is the nicest one I have seen so far - in my humble opinion.

BUYER BEWARE!! Notice to all future buyers of the Nokia 6236i. It is a cheap phone. I purchased it on E-Bay & have only had it a couple weeks before it quit charging. The connection went bad. It's already broken! I'm assuming it's the Nokia product. Trust me, that you should research all products prior to purchase and it at all possible? BUY NEW IN THE PACKAGING.

Good phone, it is small but works really well, the camera works fine, the speaker is all you need, it looks good too. only problem I have is navigating around with the little joy stick button- Ive got a bug thumb. Mine was stolen and Im buying another.

Its very small and light, good battery life, not to expensive and the display screen is very bright but not bright enough to hurt the eyes. It is just right and i personally feel it is a great buy.

Great phone with video streaming and camera phone. I got it from work because I use to work for Nokia, it is an excellent phone though. I would continue to use it, but I don't have Verizon.

My company bought this model phone for their employees, because we were told a flip phone was too fragile. This phone does not hold up well. Too bad, because it should be better than this.

I liked the style and size. It is not available at the Verizon stores. I could only find it on E- Bay

Had this phone for over 6 months and its been great. Long battery life and reception where other phones have failed. Had an issue in the first few weeks I had it with the sound quality being distorted but I sent it in to Nokia and they fixed it up. No problems since. I've dropped this phone multiple times and it still works.

Decent phone with good features. I gave it a low rating because many of the features are unusable (such as the FM radio) unless you purchase additional accessories. The headset recepticle requires a special plug. If Nokia is going to sell a $200 phone with an odd recepticle the least they could have done is include the cord or adapter.

it came 100% freshly packaged, and untouched. no a scratch dent or anything. well there was a little bit of allumium paint stuff coming off, but it was just a bad manufacturing i guess. i am in love with ebay now<33

My husband and I both have Nokia 6236i phones with Verizon. They are the best cell phones we have ever had. For comparison, we have had Blackberries, LG's, Motorola, Palm and most of them sucked. (I also have a Nokia e71 smart phone mostly for web surfing (a no-contract $35 data plan with AT&T, use Skype on it).

The Nokia 6236i is a great size, takes good photos considering the size and price point, easy to find headsets for, takes video, you can even get the data package and check email even if its a very small screen (its not meant for that so don't expect miracles). I esp love the easy to use interface as opposed to, for example, an LG that has that awful Verizon splash screen garbage with non-intuitive icons a 5 year old would love. Your photos can be set to wallpaper, too. Text messaging capable, batteries are inexpensive, easy to find and long lasting. I think the only thing it does not do is have customizable ringtones - but I don't want that.

I am ready for a new (used) 6236i three years later because this one has been put through the ringer. I have dropped it, scratched it, taken it all over the country in the rain, snow, you name it. Its just time for my trusty 6236i to be laid to rest and be replaced with exactly the same model. I think I will be nice to this one, however, and put a screen cover on it so it won't scratch. My husband also needs one because he put his through the wash 3 years later (no biggie, it served him faithfully).

If you want a small phone, are okay with a "candy bar" style -- and want a camera? Its a fabulous little phone. And considering that Verizon is NOT known for good phones? I would and DID go out of my way to get my hands on this little beauty. Good job Nokia.

The product offers user friendly feature and functionality. This particular product supports the phone provider system that I already have (Verizon Wireless).

i bought the phone because my old one didn't work anymore and i didn't want to sign another contract. i like the phone. i like the size, i was disappointed with the loud speaker function, it's not nearly as loud as some of the reviews said it was. i am still learning how to use it, maybe i am doing something wrong. i think i will like it more as i become more familiar with it. i definately like it much better than my razor phone that is no longer functioning.

It was priced right, the dealer showed a good track record, after the sale he actually expedited the sale( received the merchandise from sundays sale four
days later on Thursday ). All went well. The only regret is the fact that I was notified that the dealer was released from doing business with ebay.

Ok, the fact that you take a pic and then you can actually zoom in and pan it -- how great is that? and the quality -- amazing for the camera that it has. it does great video too. charges amazingly fast, never broke, sturdy and solid, compact too.
