  NOKIA 6010 UNLOCKED
Review created: 11/07/05(updated 07/14/07)

When it is said that a NOKIA 6010 is UNLOCKED - Most sellers mean that it is UNLOCKED for use with any GSM 850/1900 MHz Wireless Service Carrier's SIM Card for Voice Services ONLY!

The NOKIA 6010 may or may NOT be unlocked for data services depending on which Wireless Service Carrier's BRAND is on the phone.

In the case of a T-Mobile branded phone, it is FIRMWARE LOCKED to T-Mobile for Mobile Internet (t-zones), Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and other data services. A T-Mobile SIM Card is required to use data services.

I have verified that an Unlocked NOKIA 6010 T-Mobile branded phone will NOT work with AT&T/Cingular Mobile Internet, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and other data services. ONLY Voice Services will work.

Find out the actual BRAND on the phone you are considering to purchase, many sellers are not disclosing the actual wireless carrier branding in their listing, (if there is a brand, it could be a NOKIA 6010 un-branded, unlocked, and non-firmware locked phone). A branded phone has the wireless carrier's brand painted on the plastic case. My research has found that Cingular branded phones are NOT firmware locked for data services and will work with any wireless carrier's data services. I use a Cingular branded phone with AT&T, so I CAN NOT VERIFY the preceeding statement.

I have owned several Nokia and Keyocera phones and the Nokia 6010 is very durable and easy to use. I found the functions easy to use and even my children can navagate the menu with out help. I like the fact that there is no antenna to break and I have dropped it a few times and it did not crack.

  SIMPLE AND ELEGANT

THIS PHONE IS DESIGNED FOR THE CUSTOMER WHO WANTS A SIMPLE AND STYLISH PHONE WITHOUT THE HASSLE OF UNWANTED FEATURES. THIS PHONE IS VERY BASIC AND EASY TO USE. IT HAS A VERY EASY TO READ SCREEN, DISPLAYS LARGE NUMBERS ON THE SCREEN, AND IS EXCEPTIONALLY EASY TO NAVIGATE. THE VOLUME OF THIS PHONE IS MUCH LOUDER THAN THE AVERAGE CELL PHONE FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE OFTEN IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT PREVENTS THEM FROM HEARING ON AN AVERAGE CELL PHONE, OR FOR THOSE WHO MAY EXPERIENCE HEARING LOSS. THIS PHONE IS GREAT FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO USE A CELL PHONE FOR WHAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED FOR....JUST TO TALK!!

This phone is Bulky, the looks are not pleasing

I bought this phone but got rid of it, it lacks features and nothing exciting about owning one. This phone is too large to carry around. The style does not reflect any contemprory design. This phone has been superseeded by more modern and better looking phones. I would not accept if some one gives this phone for free.

This is very good basic cell phone and the price was right, I replaced a Sony Ericson camara phone with this phone and prefer this over the Sony even though it doesn't have the camara feature, it is basically the same size as the Sony but the keypad is much larger making it easier to use plus the Sony reception was 50/50 most of the time and this phone has been 100% so far, I would reccomend this phone to anybody looking for a cheap basic cell phone.

Barebones Phone with pretty good reception

When eBay asked me to write a review on the Nokia 6010 cell phone I was rather surprised. Then it dawned on me that I did indeed have enough information to write an important review for those who lived where there was poor reception. The first mass production of cell phones was those huge bag phones. We have a small cabin on the Suwannee River and a remote house in the foothills of the Ozarks in Arkansas. I was also traveling around Florida to various professional meetings. For a little old lady, that bag phone became my security blanket to get help if I broke down. My first big bag phone could handle most of the phone calls but there were still some “dead” areas. Our cell phone service forced us into the small cell phones when the analog service was upgraded to the new standards. I still keep my old bag for in the car for emergency. It has the most power.

My husband upgraded to the earlier version of the 6010 and just about always got good reception. I went for a much nicer smaller cell phone with great graphics and a speaker phone. After a year of dropped calls, garbled calls and no calls, I was ready to throw that cute little phone at the clerk in the cell phone store. So I paid off my contract and bought a larger phone – but not the 6010 -. still had dropped calls, etc. Finally, I bit the bullet and bought that larger yucky 6010 on eBay with the poor quality graphics, no speaker phone, no camera, BUT I now get my phone calls and can hear them!! If you travel off the main roads, or even live in a part of town where the reception is very poor (that’s me, too) then you should seriously consider trying the 6010. It’s not perfect but it appears to be better than the fancy ones for reliable reception. For one thing it has a more powerful battery. Now, purchasing my Nokia 6010 on eBay is another long, long, long story. But buying an UNLOCKED phone on eBay is cheaper, as far as I am concerned, than giving in to those contracts with the service providers.

Nokia Still makes the best simple, most durable phones
Review created: 11/13/06
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I Have sold hundreds of cell phones on ebay and achieved powerseller status doing so. I have come across many different types cell phones, but I proud to say that The Nokia 6010 has been my phone of choice for three years now for my personal use. The 6010 is one of the most durable and one of the simplest phoens to use. One of the most common problems you hear will nokia phones is that the volume during a call is not loud enough. This problem can be solved.
VOLUME CONTROL FOR PHONE PROBLEM.
The way to control the volume during calls is to press the arrow bottom pointing up while talking to someone during a call.
ADVANTAGES of the 6010
-Durability by far. (have dropped it many times and still continues to work)
--Simple setup for a cell phone while still having some of the features like rintones, photos etc
--Simple charger than can be used on any nokia phone. (out of all the phones, Nokia makes the best charger that will last forever problem free.
--Inexpensive

DISADVANTAGES
-Maybe its size. A little bigger than most flip phones.
Nohting else, A great phone.

This phone came free from T-Mobile. I have had it for awhile. Great for those who want basic phone features without a lot of extras. Good first phone for a kid, too. Durable. I use the hands-free earpiece that comes with it a lot. Helpful when driving or shopping.

  Purchase of Nokia 6010

Great phone. I work for Cingular Wireless. Nokia is the best as far as durability and quality. When purchasing a used phn especially I would go with a nokia. You can drop it, get it wet, throw it through a window (my little brother did this) and will still work fine! Also the 6010 has very high volume so you can hear well in an automobile.

I bought my Nokia 6010 because it is one of the best "just phones" with a few extra features that is still out there today. It has great reception, long battery life, easy to navigate menu and is a good looking phone. I know it is an "old school" phone compared to the computer phones that are being built today.

A very good quality basic phone

Cingular told me that they were going to change to GSM in my area soon so I wanted to be prepared. I wanted a simple good quality basic phone and did not like the ones they offered. The Nokia seemed to fit my needs. The ad said that it had a speakerphone which I would have preferred. It does not but it works great. I love it. This discontinued phone has good volume and is easy to use.

  NOKIA is the Best

Nokia makes a one piece phone with no moving parts, bells, or whistles.Simpler IS better. Phone holds its charge for days, finds a signal almost immediately. If you need a phone to make calls this is one you can depend on. For all that other stuff buy an Ipod

Nokia 6010 gives great reception in tough terrain

Nokia, in general, gives us great reception. We are in the mountains, on property with much forest, and have a metal pole barn, and these obstacles never stop the Nokia. It is a functional phone, easy to use, and takes much outdoor abuse and yet keeps on working. It is a good size, not too small. We recommend it to anyone in similar environment.

  Nokia 6010 Mobile Phone
Review created: 11/12/08

I am so pleased to find the Nokia 6010 phone on eBay. The 6010 is no longer available at my T-Mobile store, and I am tired of changing models every year or so and having to learn all of the “bells and whistles” all over again each time I get a new one. Now, thanks to eBay I have two 6010s and so I should be happy for quite awhile! It is an excellent phone for folks who work outside on ranches, construction, etc. and give the phone rough use. It seems like all the new phones now are really for taking pictures and playing games.

My husband lost his old phone & he doesn't like the new phones. He said they can't handle what he puts a phone through. This is the ONLY phone he will use. I am so glad that they are still selling them. This phone is excellent & in perfect working condition. I'm thinking about buying him a backup just incase.
