Nokia 5190 (Unlocked)

i disliked the way the matter is being taken care of after many emails no response ive decided this to be a dishounest ebayer

The reason I like this phone is because it's simple. All I want is a dependable phone. Not a camera or an orchestra or anything else. Just a simple phone to call friends and family. I had my first Nokia 5190 for seven years. It wasn't broken. It was stolen. So, I bought another one because I know how dependable it is. 'nough said?

Unfortunately local grown phones just dont seem today to offer the plain styling and rugged construction and plain old versatility of the 5190 from "Nokia". Ive owned mine for seven years now and have been tickled pink with it. Lots of battery life from a single charge. You can leave it plugged in every night and you never have to worry about it in this respect again till you re-charge as needed. They just dont make them like they used to. Mine cost me $100 in 2000 and came with some free airtime. Id happily pay that same amount for it today given ts quality however Id pay twice that if it said Motorola USA on it.

I bought this telephone for my 85 year old father-in-law because he really just needed a simple cell phone,he never uses Internet and has no need for a camera.
The phone arrived in very good condition and in the original box. Though a little dated and bigger than newer phones, it really seems to be bulletproof I don't think newer phones are half as durable would be ideal for a construction worker or other people who would regularly subject their phone to abuse.
The phone uses a sim, has gsm technology and works fine with our local Cingular service, may work with other providers but not sure.
When I first got the phone it was locked, however an unlock code is easily located via the Internet.
It is too bad new phones are not so well made.

A great hard-to-find, dependable cell phone by Nokia! It goes great with the DCH-12 speakerphone/charger, a nice combination if you're looking to go wireless at home!

What is good:1)reception 2)sound quality 3)Long battery life 4)Simplicity 5)Solid body 6)Nothing spare to hinder your attention.What is bad:After 3 months of a good service some circuicity problems appeared,batteries discharged within a couple hours,an item worked only for outcomings calls and incoming SMS or voice messages.

I bought this phone on Ebay several months ago for a friend who wanted something that was "Old School." Being this phone is only 1900 it is only usable with T-mobile for the most part. But... If thats not an issue then you will love the way this phone works and responds. Its built Tough, like FORD tough! tha batteries slide on and off (like on a Camcorder) and they hold quite a charge. The controls are very simple to use. It has the ability to recieve SMS messages, Sorry, no Multimedia messages. Works wonderful with T-mobile ToGo and T-Mobile post-paid and T-mobile Flexpay. Uses the very common Nokia ACP 7U charger, easily found on ebay. However, it WILL NOT work with the Nokia ACP-12U charger.

The Phone does well where my Nokia 6340i cannot get a good signal. Its only Black and white display isn't a problem for the main task the phone does, Making and recieving calls.

The phone does not have a calendar applet, Nor can you do internet on it either, it does have an alarm clock and enough ringtons (approx 40) to satisfy almost anyone.)

I liked the sucker enough to two of them.

phone is just what I needed to use with my hands free cradle in my car.
I decided to buy it because I was forced to turn in my other model because of ols technology.This phone fit the bill.
