Nokia 3589i (Verizon Wireless)

After my super high tech digital phone died on me 8 months before my "new every 2" policy kicked in, and my carrier wouldn't give me a deal on a new phone, I went searching for a cheap, basic phone that had great reception, text messaging capability, and long battery life. I found all three in this model. Sure it looks a little simple next to my friends' flips, Blackberries, and Bluetooth, but I never miss a call, get great reception in my 2nd floor, courtyard facing apartment, and have only had to charge the phone about once a week. Who could ask for more?? When my "new every 2" finally comes up, I think my next phone will be another Nokia. Motorola makes junk these days...

This is the best phone ever made. Okay so that's a little bit much, but this a phone with so many useful features and it is so reliable, you wonder why they quit making it. It is a tri-mode, it has great stuff like an alarm clock, a calendar, voice memo, and other features, but of course, it isn't sleek, and it can't take pictures. But what do you want a phone to do? Always get a signal and make calls! I had mine for over 2 years and never had to replace the battery. In fact it is still working, I just gave it to one of the boys. One thing, you can't put it through the washer and dryer. That stopped one of the Nokia 3589i
phones. But the battery was still good and I can use it for parts. They are available for $20-40 now and I would say buy a couple, because when your Razor breaks or your flashy thing quits on your LG, you will want something to make phone calls. And for the other thing? Buy a digital camera.

Its very small and light, good battery life, not to expensive and the display screen is very bright but not bright enough to hurt the eyes. It is just right and i personally feel it is a great buy.

If you don't need a phone with all the bells and whistles this is the phone for you!!!! This is the second one for my husband. He loves this phone. He is extremely rough with it , doing construction, hunting, fishing and just hanging out and the phone is so durable. We only had to buy a new because I washed this one for the THIRD time in the laundry. The size is perfect for him too. He can't lose it and it's not in the way. This is truly the BEST phone Nokia has for the BASIC person.

I have bought two Nokia 3589i (Verizon Wireless) cell phones. They have an excellent display screen which is easy to read during the day and night. It comes with the essential bells and whistles plus some. It won't take pictures of your cat but I have a camera. I suggest getting the leather case to protect it from the elements and/or physical damage from dropping. I have had no trouble finding headsets or chargers for this unit. You should be able to get an average to good conditioned one for about $25 to $35 when bidding on eBay. The battery also provides long talking time. This is a good cell phone and would buy another.

the phone is highly recommended by others who own one. It has all the right features we were looking for. The ring volumes are loud. This phone has many wonderful options on it. Great signal power. Love it. We bought it used and worked perfectly. Will most likely buy a new one at a later date.

Since I still occasionally travel through areas with spotty coverage, a cell phone's reception is very important to me. I, like most of my friends, have Verizon Wireless as the cell phone provider. Non of their fancy clam shell or super smart type phones can come close to this Nokia 3589's ability to pull in a signal, and make a call. Also, this Nokia's menu is FAR easier to use, as it pre-dates Verizon's decision to standardize the menus of all their phones.

Sure, this Nokia doesn't have a camera, and it won't floss your teeth or anything fancy. But when it comes to pure 100% signal pulling power, nothing comes close.

The fact that after market parts like batteries, hands free cords, and cases are super cheap is an added bonus.

I was in need of a Nokia phone that would have service in our remote, farming area of Upstate, NY. Local Verizon sales people suggested which model Nokia phone to look for. I purchased this phone; it turned out to be for another cellular carrier (US Cellular), which I had never heard of. The seller listed this auction with eBay Pre-Filled information, in which case, (Verizon Wireless) appears next to the Nokia model, and it cannot be changed. In fact, OTHER cellular carriers also use this Nokia phone ~ I was not able to activate the phone with Verizon Wireless. The seller scolded me for not completely reading his auction description; but insisted that it was eBay's fault. (Note: the seller did eventually offer to replace the phone, but I would be out 3X shipping charges). The kicker is that I RESOLD the phone, listing the "standard way"; typing my own description, to accurately describe that this phone was for a carrier called US Cellular. I was able to resell it, and the buyer was very happy with it. THEREFORE, eBay's pre-filled information is convenient, when the item merits using it..... if not, sellers should take a few extra minutes to make sure that what they are selling meets the complete description.

The Nokia 3589i is not impressive to see and is not impressive to use. It possesses technology from 10 years ago, so someone who would feel embarrassed by not having the smallest, sleakest, multi-media/function device should not consider this phone. But! If you are looking for a phone that you can drop out your car window at 30 m.p.h. and still make a call, or receive a signal just about anywhere, and care nothing about bells and whistles, then this is a great phone. The sound is great. The signal is always great. What few features this phone has are easy to use. I bought this phone as a temp when my expensive phone broke, and I find it to be everything one may need in a phone. I am still going to replace my broken phone because I need a more functional web browser for work, but this nokia will remain a reliable stand by.

The only thing missing on this phone is maybe speaker phone. It is a simple phone easy to use and has great reception.
I have bought about six of these phones. I buy them and put them back for when my other one goes out. The reason I have had to replace them is because I've dropped them in water. Not because they have worn out.

I did not like the phone that we purchased. When we got it it did not work at all. The battery would not charge. So it was sent back. We decided to buy it in the first place cause we needed a new phone. But it was not worth a single dime that we payed for it.

NEEDED A REPLACEMENT PHONE FAST SO WENT ON EBAY AND GOT THIS ONE AND RECEIVED IT VERY QUICKLY AND IT WORKS GREAT. IF I EVER NEED ANOTHER ONE I WILL COME BACK HERE.

It was identical to the cellphone that I misplaced. I didn't want to incur any extra years of contract with verizon. They also offered me a flip phone for $90 but I would have had to then pay for charger separately. This was the best deal for me because I don't use my cell phone for anything other than emergencies or to answer pages.

I originally owned a Motorola V265 on the Verizon Wireless network. I then lost it at a basketball game having only owned it for 6 months. I then was forced to buy a new phone or buy a phone off ebay. I then purchased the Nokia 3589i on ebay. I liked the phone till I dropped it and now I can’t hear out of it that well. But I’ll just have to live with that till my 2 year contract is up for a new phone

Overall this is a very good phone for beginners. It’s not a real flashy phone but is great if you just need a phone to make and receive calls. Great phone do recommend.

I like the fact that I was able to get the same phone as the one that I had before it broke. I went to e-bey and found just what I was looking for and purchased it with ease. I love the fact that it only took a few days to arrive to me. I also love the price of the phone, it was cheeper than if you had insurance on the phone.

i live in a rural community & need a phone that gets reception not a phone that takes a picture ... i've had the rzor phone from motorola & for all the hype you would think that you were getting something .... i didn't like it , poor reception & dropped alot of calls ... as for the nokia bar phone , i haven't had one i didn't love .... ( if i want to talk i won't use my camera i will use my phone !!!!! )

the old nokia, phone's battery last a few days without charging, get excellent service just about anywhere i go. And the features are so simple and basic, no need for all that internet stuff on a cell phone. love the phone, will replace it with the same thing if this one ever goes out.

I bought this phone because I was getting tired of fancy PDA styles phones, specifically the motorola Q. The battery life on all these fancy phones is terrible. The Nokia 3589i holds a charge for days. The interface on this phone is very user friendly and the alarm clock is guaranteed to wake up even the deepest sleepers.
