A sturdy workhorse of a cellphone

I've been using a Nokia 3585i for more than three years now, and I love it. But it's not for everyone, especially when compared to the technology that's now available. (This phone does not offer features like a camera, an mp3 player, or video capability. It does offer text-messaging and a few games.)
The Nokia 3585i is an older-model cellphone with basic features - "candy bar" design (which means it's not a tiny little flip-phone), black & white screen, a pull-up antenna, there's no SIM card, and it has a little weight to it). The menus are easy to understand, the phone is easy to program, and it works very well. You can store up to 500 phone numbers in it.
This is a good choice for someone who's looking for a basic, sturdy cellphone. (I'm not particularly hard on my cellphone, but I think even Naomi Campbell would have a difficult time breaking this phone!)
My only word of caution is that Nokia does not make this phone (or parts for it) any longer, so when it goes, it goes, and it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to replace it with a new one. I recently DID have to replace my 3585i, and I was very lucky to find a used one in very good shape and with very little talk-time on it.
Still, I recommend this workhorse of a phone for any basic or new user who's not looking for all the bells and whistles that newer-model cellphones offer. It works well, which is pretty much all I require in a cellphone.
