Sleek and Slim This Is An Updated 6103 With More of All
Review created: 12/12/08(updated 01/19/09)

The buzz on this phone is the 1700/2100 AWS feature. That means when T-Mobile rolls out 3G in your area you'll be ready to download those ringtones and games in record breaking time. But until then this particular feature is not important. So why the 3555 now?

Let's start with the camera. The specs say it is VGA, and it is. But it takes some really nice photographs. It has a decent lens, unlike the 6103, see my 6103 review and you'll see what I mean. There has been a huge improvement here. There is a 4X digital zoom available on the camera. There is also 30 megabytes of storage available on the phone for those nice photos you'll be taking. This is another huge improvement over the 6103.

Another improvement is in the PC interface. The Pop-Port is gone! The microUSB plug has replaced it. This allows for fast data transfer. Also, the parts of the interface that endure physical wear have moved to the relatively inexpensive cable allowing the phone portion of the connection to last for thousands of connections.

This phone can be used as a modem. It's a quadband phone so it can be used a modem worldwide. Once 3G is rolled out it will be a rather quick modem. So you'll be able to hookup your laptop via the microUSB cable any place you are able to make a phone call and check your stock prices, your airline arrangements or how the Red Sox are doing. The fast speeds will be limited to where T-Mobile has its AWS bands implemented.

It uses the BL-5C battery. This has 25% more juice than the BL-4C that was in the 6103. This gives you 10 days of standby and three hours of straight yakking.

The LCD is the same resolution and color depth as the Nokia 6086. That is it is 1.8 inches and 262,144 colors. This is the weakest part of the phone. The text and graphics look clunky and dated. It is the same as the 6103. It is like a time warp to open this sleek device, turn it on and see the screen.

The keypad is another story. It is a delight to use. Excellent feedback from the keys makes entering a phone number or texting easy. The keys are quick, dark grey chicklets set into a silver bezel making them easy to see in all conditions. Although not as pronounced this has the keypad-LCD interference issue that beset the 6103.

The HS-40 wired handsfree headset that comes with phone plugs in near the hinge on the right side of the phone. The power plug in at the bottom of the phone on the same side. The microUSB port, which is not covered, is at the lower left side of the phone. I would have prefered to see the headset wire on the left side and the USB wire on the right to facilitate handsfree use while driving assuming the phone is in a phone holder in the center console. This works but it is not ideal. Keep it in your left trouser pocket and it will work perfectly.

The exterior of the phone is interesting. When open, the exterior hinge is hidden, making the device appear to be one long continuous unit. It is a narrow phone and this appearance is accentuated by the narrow chrome bands that separate and highlight the black center piece of the exterior. These are also the high wear points of the device and de-chrome quickly leaving the device somewhat shabby appearing in short order. You'll want to put the helicopter blade stuff on the outside of this one simply to keep it looking nice.

To sum it all up, this phone has function, style, it's light weight and because it is a Nokia it works well. For the price it is going to be hard to beat

This is a stylish phone and very easy to use. The only thing I dislike is the battery cover does not just snap off like most other Nokias. I almost broke the cover before I read the directions.

Overall a nice phone though a bit on the cheesy side. Simple menu structure and all features are easy to use.

Review created: 12/10/09

Its a good phone with Quad band for those who just need call in and out. I like it.
Just the display is not competitive. But that we have to compramise with the cheap phone.

Rest seller is good , and fast shipping. Reached my home very fast.

Thanks.

I bought a mobile phone from Ebay. I am very glad. thanks to Ebay. The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.

Works with ATT, and believe it or not but we chose it because of the color...at the same ti,me, I love Nokia phones for their friendly user interface. Not sophisticated, but smart and easy to use.
Specifically in this case, the phone works with our provider so it was a perfect match.

This phone is sleek and easy to carry. Sound quality is much better than my previous phone. The pictures come out camera quality; I have sent to my email to forward and they are excellent. There are so many features I will never use them all. Just put in SIM and ready to go. Very happy with this purchase.

simple in design and shape - everything that I expected from a late generation nokia and at 65USD is more than worth the price.
the selling point for me, was the keypad - althohgh the phone is not big, the keys are spaced and easy to press "just one" instead of hitting two or three at a time.

  Nokia disaster

I had 2 different, new Nokia 355 phones. Each one was returned, due to what I feel is a systemic problem. The battery like is the worst of any cell phone I have ever had. After 1 to 2 days of light usage, battery has to be charged. I was sent a replacement battery for my first 3555, but the problems remained. After this, I was sent a brand new phone, only to have the exact same battery issue. I called Nokia tech support and was told that "Maybe the problems was that I had Bluetooth turned on." I did not have Bluetooth turned on and never did. I was so disgusted with this piece of Junk that I got my money back and bought a Motorola. The funny thing was that I was always happy with the quality of previous Nokia phones{my Nokia 6103 still works perfectly after tons of usage} and my wife's inexpensive and very basic Nokia 1608 is terrific. Well, I guess any company can make a lemon. Stay away from this phone!

The phone that I ordered would not work in our state. But the seller was very nice about it, and told us that it wouldn't work. He then offered us a few different phones that would work. We are very satisfied with the phone that we recieved.

I absolutely love downloading whatever i like onto my phone. When I purchased this phone, I was looking for a phone that would mold into what I liked. I can download a good bit of personal ringtones. I can take and download good quality pix. Its only flaw is that the bass blares.

Review created: 01/17/09

My son loves the phone! Nice ringtones and functionality.

The good: The Nokia 3555 has an attractive design and satisfying call performance. Its feature set includes voice dialing, stereo Bluetooth, and a music player.

The bad: The Nokia 3555 has dim, low-resolution displays. Also, it offers only a VGA camera.

The bottom line: The Nokia 3555 has a schizophrenic feature set and dim displays, but it's not a bad buy as a midrange cell phone.

Specifications: Band / mode: WCDMA (UMTS) / GSM 850/900/1800/1900 ; Talk time: Up to 180 min ; Combined with: With digital camera / digital player

I do happen to like this phone model. The particular item I purchased was used and thus slightly scratched, etc. Otherwise I'm pretty satisfied with it.
