Nokia 2285 (TracFone)

The Nokia 2285 is by far one of the most durable handsets I have used. Its been dropped, thrown, doused in water, and had many other things happen to it that would obliterate other phones. Mine still works really well.

The service, Tracfone, gave me the opposite. The service was lacking. The customer service representatives speak in broken English and are difficult to understand, that is assuming you don't get hung up on first. After having minutes and airtime stolen, the customer service department hung up on me in all attempts to rectify the issue. I was unable to gain my airtime back until I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau.

In conclusion, I would still be using the Nokia 2285 if it wasn't for the fact that it was limited to Tracfone only (Since Cingular cannot be used on the 2285 due to the locked GSM.) It was a simple to use and highly dependable phone.

This is a GREAT phone! I get as good or better reception and a larger service area than all the other phones and carriers that I have had or seen. If you are looking for a useful phone, this is the one for you... If you are looking for a camera phone... just buy a camera, you'll get better photos!

It is a very good phone for the mony i agree.But there is just alot more but it
is the company that i like tracfone is a very good company and nokias last forever.

No fancy bells to it. It is just a phone. If that is all you need (as for most people) this is it. The other options Are just wants from spolied bratts that now are older. They just complate your live and keep the chaos going. (look at your life???)

Though the phone is an "older" model it gets better service than other pay as you go phones, including other Tracphones. More service in more areas than the three brand new model Trac phones we purchased. Would highly recommend this for service in more areas. Nokia 2285 is so good, we found another one for our uncle who couldn't get service with his newer Trac Phone.

If you live anywhere Alltel has service and have a Nokia phone, you can't beat it. If you have Tracfone, defiantly get a Nokia. I have one on Tracfone and one on Alltel. I tried other brands but they don't even compare. Tracfone is good in most places but not inside buildings. I use mine when they have a deal on air time. Like bonus minutes or double minutes. I leave my Tracefone in the glove box in case I forget my Alltel phone. This has happened more than once.

The only thing I don't like is the menu. Things are a little hard to find and sometimes in places that don't make since.

This is a great simple phone. I have had my first one for over 4 yrs now, and that is partially why I bought this 2nd phone. My favorite feature is the External Antenna - esp with the recent reports of people having brain damage who use a cell phone a lot with only an Internal Antenna. By extending the Antenna, the signal strength increases, and gets the microwaves farther from your head. The phone is durable, and simple to use, tho some of the menus are imbedded deeper than I think they should be.

The only real complaint is that after about 4 yrs now of use, the buttons have some 'bounce', and it will skip by what you are looking for *___*.

If you need extended talk time, larger capacity batteries can be found on eBay.

For the price, this phone beats other models that I am familiar with.

I would recommend this phone to anybody.

i love the idea of a simple built phone that is durable to handle anything, i also get great signal and voice quality, i highly recomend this phone to anyone who values simplicity and don't have to pay a fortune for it!! and because tracfone carries it that makes it even more special, the phone is simple strong, and best of all affordable, A++++++++++++++
