Nobunaga's Ambition (Nintendo, 1988)

Nobunaga's Ambition is an excellent strategy game that takes place in feudal Japan. You choose which land you would like to rule over, then you battle other Daimyo's with the intent to reunite Japan. In order to successfully take over other territories you must build up your land, recruit and train soldiers and keep the people happy to prevent an uprising or a revolt. The game is part of KOEI's historical series, which makes the storyline of the game very interesting.

The only part of the game which is not as steller as the rest is the controls, especially during battles. This problem was remedied however on the SNES release of the game.
