Dated, but good mini-series
This was an attempt to generate another blockbuster mini-series by the same author that started the whole mini-series craze with Sho-Gun. On the whole, it still works. While not as intriguing as Sho-Gun, it opens up the culture and atmosphere of Hong Kong. As with all film or TV treatments, it is a pale shadow of the book, but it is visually interesting and tells a good story. At times it seems a bit stilted and doesn't flow as smoothly as I would have liked, but overall it is an enjoyable view.
